I just sold a fountain pen. The auction was set for U.S. and Canada only. The high bidder is in France. How did this happen and what should I do now?
1. Go to your My eBay page in eBay, then Account - Site Preferences.
From here click 'Show' next to 'Buyer requirements', then click 'edit.' You want this to say 'Are registered in countries to which I don't ship' for one of your requirements.
It will look something like this:
2. With step one being done and the way you setup your listings you can probably ignore this (since your only intended international bidders will be from the same place.)
When you setup your international shipping carriers (both here and at eBay) you can define exactly where that shipping carrier can be used. In your Vendio listing page where you setup your International Shipping carriers, click where it says 'Default=Item's Ship-To Loc.' and define exactly who should be able to use this carrier/price.
If the buyer going through checkout isn't from the location you specified in this carrier they will be unable to continue. (although if you setup the above in step 1, you shouldn't be running into this issue anyway since they wouldn't have been able to put in the initial bid.)

Personally, I would go ahead and complete the sale. Shipping a pen to France is going to be pretty close to the same price. And you have to go to the P.O. to ship to Canada, so what difference does it make to you if it goes to France?
