Think I'll pass - tried the grilled chicken, hoping that it would be a resurrection of their awesome discontinued rotisserie chicken. It was dried out, even the dark pieces.

We had it last night and it was very good - but small. I was wondering if we could order next time and show the coupons AFTER we order

i just printed 4 coupons! I kept using the back button and it allowed me to get 4 printed, all with different coupon numbers.

KFC is not generally something i eat anymore, but i will try it out. my complaint with their business is that everything there is unhealthy. most everything is fried, loaded with terrible carbs (mash potatoes, gravy, mac & cheese, buscuits... even their cole slaw is loaded with sugar).

what is ironic in all of this is over the last two years I have seen surveys and testing on fast food/chain restaurants and each one has McDonalds getting high scores for having healthy options available on their menu. Of course, you can't order a Big Mac, Large Fries and Large Coke. You're talking 2000 calories alone!

Shag, we eat far more fast food than we should, but there are healthy choices at most franchises. I almost always hold the mayo and throw away the top bun, we have a rule that we order the side salad instead of the fries- the sodium and fat is high in the dressings - we usually do take out and use our dressings at home. Even the fried foods are acceptable in small measures - the small chicken Mcnuggets with a side salad, the McChicken sans mayo and top bun. Wendy's is great for healthy choices.

so, we went to claim our chicken... and KFC refused to honor them. They claim that there are so many "fakes" out there. Now they want us to fill out a form and mail it to KFC for coupons.

What is funny about this is that the whole promotion was to get people to try out their new chicken. Instead, they are getting ticked off customers who are miffed b/c they drove to KFC to redeem their offer and they refuse to honor it.

Do I smell a Class Action... or just fried chicken?

The head of KFC was on Oprah apologizing for the poor customer service and the fact that so many people didn't get their grilled chicken.
They extended the offer, I think, and have thrown in a free Pepsi.
They didn't expect so many people.

On one news report, a KFC official stated a need to save some chichen to sell on Mother's Day.

Poor mothers.

AMERICA HAS OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO KENTUCKY GRILLED CHICKEN™ OFFER; KFC OFFERS APOLOGY AND RAIN CHECKS FOR INCONVENIENCED CUSTOMERS

LOUISVILLE, KY - Following an unprecedented and overwhelming response to a free offer of a Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal, KFC has announced that it can no longer accept the free coupon at this time, but that it will introduce a rain check program to take care of inconvenienced customers.

“We would like to apologize to our customers who have been inconvenienced by the overwhelming response to our free Kentucky Grilled Chicken offer,” said Roger Eaton, President of KFC U.S. “The lines of customers wanting to redeem their coupons have been out the door and around the block, so we’re unable to redeem customer coupons at this time.”

The offer, which was featured on “The Oprah Winfrey Show®” on Tuesday, May 5, resulted in millions of coupons being downloaded and lines of customers waiting outside KFC restaurants from coast to coast. While the Kentucky Grilled Chicken introduction was already the largest in KFC history, the overwhelming response of the free meal offer drove restaurant traffic to levels not seen in the brand’s 50-plus year history.

While millions of free meal coupons have already been redeemed over the past three days, customers holding a coupon will now be issued a rain check. Those customers may visit a participating KFC restaurant to receive a rain check form. They will then receive via mail a rain check coupon for the free two pieces of Kentucky Grilled Chicken (manager’s choice), two individual side items and a biscuit. The rain check coupon, which will be redeemable at a later date for a two week period, will also entitle the holder to a free Pepsi to go with the free meal, as a way of apologizing for the inconvenience.

All rain check requests must be accompanied by an original coupon and returned to a participating KFC restaurant or postmarked by May 19, 2009.

“We know that when people taste their free Kentucky Grilled Chicken, they’re going to love it,” Eaton added. “We apologize to those who have been inconvenienced, and we thank them for their understanding and patience.”

The head of KFC's marketing department should lose his or her job over how badly this coupon promotion has been bungled.

Do you guys have any idea how hard it is to get on Oprah in the first place? They paid big time -- several million would be my guess -- just for that spot.

Then they botched the execution.

The juicy story is here:

http://adage.com/article?article_id=136551

"KFC's offer sent the chain skyrocketing to the No. 1 topic on Twitter. By Wednesday, blogs began reporting "riots" at New York City KFCs. On Thursday, local news crews interviewed fuming customers getting turned away in other markets, including Chicago. Consumers complained about rude service, and media complained about a PR team that seemed asleep at the wheel. By Friday, the day after KFC pulled the promotion, NPR was calling KFC `the James Frey of fast food'" referring to the author of a memoir praised by Ms. Winfrey that was later exposed as fiction."

Firebombing their own restaurants probably would have caused less damage than this hare-brained promotion.
