No thank you, I take my books to the VA hospital when I am done with them. Sounds like a good deal for someone though.

Actually, it might be illegal. It doesn't have to be money sent, but anything of value. Whether or not a used paperback or audio book qualifies, I don't know.

Back when I was selling vintage costume jewelry and part of a mailing list thereof, there was a certain videotape that joolies wanted to see.
Nobody actually wanted to buy it, though.
So I bought it, and told folks I would loan it out. If interested, send me your address, and I'll forward it to the person who currently has the tape.
It made the rounds of about 30 people over the course of the next two years, and finally returned to me. One of the borrowers enclosed a thank-you note and others added to it when they got the tape.
I was kind of amazed that everyone (eventually) did the right thing.

So if you want to start a book circle, you'll probably get some takers. Chain letters, not so much.
Your friend who loves to read might enjoy visiting a library. There, at his leisure, he can find books of his personal choice without the disappointment of finding unwanted "surprises in his mailbox".
Plus, the library option, which doesn't even require a stamp, is completely free.

I do not know if they have this all over or not but here is Pasco county Florida you can get books online from the library. You can download them to your computer or ipod to listen to. Also you can burn some of them to CDs. I burn mine to CDs because I like to listen to them on my way to and from work. This a free service from our library.
