Lamps! Ugh. I am having trouble trying to list lamps with matching shades because I have to ship most in two boxes in order to protect them properly.

The problem is I can't figure out how to set up my shipping calculator for this. If I simply add a fixed "markup" to compensate for the 2nd box, it won't launch. I am guessing it is b/c the markup is too high.

It is difficult to compensate the cost by adding weight and size to the shipping calculator, but that isn't accurate... or worse, the dimensions are too big to ship.

Any suggestions???

I often have the same problem.

If the lamp will fit in one box safely but you need to pack the lamp shade separate (& you mostly likely will) - you can say the shades are not included. State that the shades are available and free to the winner but the winner will be required to pay for the additional shipping cost of the shades.

I don't think you would be breaking any ebay rules this way.

Who knows some people may want to pass on the shades anyway.
