I sold an item to an Australian buyer a few days ago, only $3.50. I just got this message from her.
"hi i got issue happening with my paypal account so am unable to use it . i happy to give a visa or business check or digisted australian money to your postal address which you can exchange at any bank. or western uion"

I am not sure how to answer. Australian cash is no good to me, and I don't know what a visa check is.

Could be a draft issued by Visa to your AUssie buyer,like those we received in the mail from our cc issuer.
Visa draft (not check) is no good to you,it will be in Aussie dollar and is probably issued by an Aussie bank and it would not clear in this country.
Aussie bank check would have to be international cashier check in US dollars drawn on US BANK and it would cost her more than 3.50 in fee.
Aussie cash ,oh well,you can go to your bank or Thomas Cook travel agency or if near an intl airport,a currency exchange place and have them exchanged it into US dollars.
//////////////////////////////////////////////
Tell her to hustle up some US dollars and mail them to you.

Thanks Hwahwa, she says she is going to send a Western Union money order. I am not sure what eBay expects sellers to do in a situation like this. It's okay to say "Paypal only", but what if the buyer can't use it for some reason?

I'd just cancel the whole darn transaction - I don't trust this person and it's not worth your time for that amount of money - just another international issue waiting to happen.

Well she worked it out after she found that a Western Union MO cost $20. Here is the message she sent.
"i got the payment though with a little trigging with paypal thanks for your patients"

I used to have "patients" when I was a nurse, but no longer!
