Not yet but I hear it is great. I need to replace my computer with 'bigger, better, faster' but maybe not for a few weeks or even after the Christmas rush.

Just replaced my 6 yr old computer with a new one. Came with Vista, but also has the free upgrade to 7 available. I'm waiting to hear more reviews before I order it.
If you have the free upgrade option available to you id certainly do it. I ran the beta and the RC versions and it was always as stable as could be - even after loading all of the needed programs for daily life into it.
If you dont have a free upgrade coming, id just hold off until you buy a new computer. Any new computer now will come with it pre-loaded and if the last time you bought a new computer it was pre-loaded with XP - the hardware likely won't be able to support WIn7 the way it was designed. (well, supported technically? yes, but I still wouldn't bother unless you have a 64 bit machine and at least 2 G of Ram.)

LOL, yep, it is an old XP I will be replacing, knew it wouldn't handle Windows 7 and eBay and all the games I play.
It's always nice to have an extra machine around the house. Not to mention when your travelling somewhere you'd rather not bring your primary machine with.
Id just setup your XP machine as the 'spare' and buy a new machine when your ready to start using Windows 7.
Extra computer are always handy. I miss every one of my spares that I ever donated over the years.

Yeah Chris I sure miss my old Commodore 64 and the PC jr those were the days!
I'm not thrilled with windows programs that anticipate what I want to do next. They are wrong about 140% of time.

I really like Vista and am sorry that hw and sw vendors never supported it. All of my peripherals - scanner, printer, etc. claimed they were incompatible with Vista and failed to mention that their drivers could be installed in Vista's XP compatibility mode. Of course, they want you to buy new hw. Vendio is guilty of this, there is an easy way to bulk upload images to Vendio in Vista. Because it is different than previous Window's versions, Vendio said it couldn't be done, even when given the procedure. Maybe making bulk upload for the default Windows OS isn't important to many, but an Image Hoster? I'm going to stay with Vista and may upgrade to 7 when Vendio does, which may be never.

I just put 7 on my Vista computer today and I LOVE IT! It's just as fast, if not a bit faster, as XP but with so many more features. So far, I'm a happy camper. My XP computer needs a graphics card upgrade to do 7 so I'll stick to XP on that one.

pixiamom - we have had the procedure for uploading in bulk from Vista on the image hosting XPress Publisher page for quite some time now. Note that bulk uploading using the method that you use for Vista is exactly the same as in Windows 7. Don't hold off on upgrading out of Vista to 7 just due to the image uploading process as it's identical.
Note that what we said, the fact that the Web Publishing Wizard that *was* in XP was removed from Vista is still true. While you can hack the Photo gallery tool and click to order prints in order to upload in bulk - the much more useful Web Publishing Wizard found in XP isn't available post-XP (even Win7) unfortunately.
I'll always miss the Web Publishing Wizards ability to resize images during the upload process, eliminating the need to bulk resize prior to uploading (in bulk or otherwise.)
Cheryl - did you end up doing the update/upgrade or did you do a clean install?
Regards,
Chris

any vendio/SMPro options for mac?
i'm considering the change over as i am tired of the problems with pc's. Some probs have to do with Windows, others have to do with a mix of cheap components the computer companies buy their parts from.
i checked out a program called Garage Sale for Mac. Launches ebay auctions with all the beni's as Vendio... but for much less (sorry Vendio, but that is what I read). Seems interesting, but haven't heard much about it other than thru their site.
Your dead on when it comes to the components. Are computers way cheaper than they were 7 years ago?
Yes, but there is a reason. There are more cheap parts being made in mass quantities, because people keep their computers for less time than they used to.
It's like with cars, your better off buying a used good model than a brand new cheap-o unit. Just because the specs say it can do everything you would ever need it to, doesn't mean it will do it well.
You still basically get what you pay for. Plus, a lot of "windows problems" are really 3rd party software problems and user errors. If you load oodles of junk onto a mac it'll run like molasses to, it'll just cost you twice as much to do it. ;p
(personally if I wanted the Mac OS, id just build a clone since it's it's all Intel processors like a PC anyway. Lots of good writeups on how to do that on lifehacker.com)

Christopher - I did the upgrade on my laptop. My desktop has XP. I ran the Win 7 checker and it said I need to upgrade my video card, which I just did. The checker still says I have to upgrade my video card. I have a GEForce 8400 GS, 256 Mg card and that should be good enough, so I don't know what's up with that. Think I'll stick with XP on the desktop.
BTW - 7 doesn't look all that different from Vista. The graphics are different as they use more "glass" effects. It is faster than Vista, which makes me happy!
