This is a great story that happened to us. About 5 months ago I listed a Poul Henningsen PH5 lamp on eBay. It was from Denmark. I sold it for $300. The buyer drove about 45 miles to our store to pick it up and loved it.

About a month ago he moved to Portland and bought a house. Three weeks ago he started coming into our store and buying random pieces of furniture. His first purchase was about $1900, his second $400. When I helped him load a small cabinet into his car he said, "I'm so glad you guys are here." I was like, "I'm glad you moved here."

His parents came in from Connecticut this week and dropped $2500 on several pieces of furniture and lighting. When we delivered the buffet hutch I mentioned a beautiful Danish Modern desk I had just purchased. A day later they came in and bought another $100 in small things. Then two days ago he bought the desk for $1600.

This is one of the few times I can say "if it wasn't for ebay"... it has made our holidays much nicer this year!

Great story, love to hear things like this. Congrats!! I am sure your personality had a lot to do with his continuing to do business with you.

What a great story!

Sometimes we have to step back from all of our frustrations with the system and just say..."Thank you EBay".

This is one of those times and like Merrie says it has a lot to do with you too. They must like you to keep coming back!

We do everything we can to keep things straight around here. Selling vintage items can be tricky, but we really stick to buying and selling the quality pieces. In the end it always makes everyone happy.

There is nothing worse than seeing some chair rigged up or wobbly at a shop where they are asking high dealer prices. We clean and prep everything before putting it out for sale.

The only bad thing about this business is that once your customer has filled their house you won't likely see them for awhile. He has also brought some friends with him that have returned and bought some things too.

I love your story! I haven't had anything on that scale to report, but repeat customers are always welcome to me, whether they spend a lot or a little. You must be very good at customer service to get that kind of business and loyalty. Congratulations!

I think this more than makes up for the few crazies you have run across on ebay lately. Stories like this keep us going.

yes i have had a few strange ones. an update on typewriter guy... he shipped the typewriter back to me via ups. i didn't know it was coming, nor was expecting packages so i refused it.

then a few days ago i got a message from ebay stating they refunded the guy. i checked all of my accounts and see no refund on my end.

we've had a fantastic holiday season this year, thanks in large to good weather. the last two months are in the top 10 of our best months in 6+ years in business... and i've hardly listed anything on ebay b/c i've been too busy keeping up with demand in our store.

the funny thing is that a few months ago we talked about selling the business. i'm still seriously considering it, and these last few months just make it more appealing to potential buyers.
