I'm taking advantage of being stuck indoors and am doing some research/listings. I have what I think is a vintage Japanese saki set. Can anyone identify/provide info on the mark? The design has what I'm pretty sure are hand-painted cranes. The set comes with the original wood box with Japanese symbols. Thanks for any help!

Your last picture is upside down.
The Kansi characters said made by such and such company, probably a ceramic manufacturer.
a recent piece ,look at the style of the crane birds!

Thanks, hwahwa! Frankly, I wouldn't know an old crane from a new one so appreciate your info. The box (even though it's upside down) looks pretty old but maybe it's had a rough life. The items have a lot of crazing too which I thought suggested older items...but maybe just poor quality? Appreciate the help.

Knowing now that these are not old Cranes but newer Cranes and the fact that they are in rather bizarre colours I would be inclined to call them 'Stylised Cranes'.

Actually, I was rather hoping that the upside down box said something like "Stylized Cranes Painted Especially for the Emperor of the Ming Dynasty".
