I have a Mr. Machine toy listed on eBay. I just got this question..
"does Mr. Machine still wind up and work?"
This is in my auction description...
"Condition: All plastic parts working, somewhat slow movement, slight play wear. Intact without broken or repaired parts. "
Sales are still very slow so I answered politely.

Whenever I get a stupid question like this I am tempted to answer with sarcasm... however I am also concerned that the questions are asked by people phishing for your email address. I always make sure to check, "hide my email address" when responding to questions.

I always answer politely, but do mention and usually copy and paste the exact wording that answers their question from my description and tell them that is where the answer came from. Subtle, but effective, READ!!
I do not care if they have my email address. I never hide my email address. I would hope they would have a better question if they were being devious instead of just clueless.

Like Shagi, I always hide my email address when replying to clueless questions. Many of them are sent by spammers and I do not want to encourage spammers to keep harvesting emails from ebay.
I often receive more than 100 emails a day and somedays I get extremely annoyed by the time waster.

People don't read the descriptions! I had to refund an auction recently because of that. I stupidly typed 1992 in the title, but it was 1991. The photos clearly showed 1991 and it was in the description in several places! I have to assume she didn't even pay attention to the photo! It was technically my fault, so I have to take the return.

Cheryl, how right you are. I think the last page design revision by eBay has conditioned users to not see the description tab. Despite a "See description for additional scans" notice I put in all of my gallery pics, I just got an ASQ about the postcard back that was answered in the first sentence of the description, accompanied by an 150 dps scan of the back.
