Last week when we were at the neighborhood yard sale I bought a Palm E2 for $3.00 and got home and found out it had Bluetooth. I downloaded the desktop software and loaded on my new laptop and tried running it but it didn't like the Windows 7 64 bit configuration. I Googled it and they all said it was a known problem, that Palm was a dead/dying breed and they just didn't bother to update the software. Well there's nothing wrong with the product itself so I thought I'd fiddle with a bit and I came up with a solution. It might help with some other software problems.
When you look at your C: Computer/Local Disk/Program Files you'll see (at least I do - remember I'm running 64 bit) Program Files AND Program Files x86. Well the Palm program kept wanting to install in the x86 section and that's where it had a problem. It wasn't compatible. When I uninstalled it and told it to install in the Program Files section (there's a whole lotta files installed there anyway) it had no problem running and installing.
Thought I'd pass it along in case it helps someone else.
Good for you on finding your own solution to that issue. Oddly enough that X86 folder is where it SHOULD have tried to install itself, as that is where 32 bit applications go. The folder without the X86 is the one designed specifically for 64 bit applications.
