Past 12 years I've used Outlook Express for my email account. I've just started using my "new" computer with Windows 7 os, and there is no longer a Outlook Express. Anybody else have experience with the new systems?

Can you check your email from a website? Unless you plan to *always* be at that computer when you need access to your email, it might be easier and more convenient going forward to just use your email providers web based service, so you have full access to all of your inbox/saved/sent data from any computer you happen to have access to.

If however you prefer a locally run client, id use Mozilla's Thunderbird program. It's made by the same people that build the FireFox browser and is just as free. I use it and love it - it's nearly identical to Outlook Express, with just nicer color scheme's.

Max, Microsoft suggests downloading Windows Live Mail. That's what I did. It's a great email program. You can keep your existing email address. http://windowslive.com/Desktop/mail

I downloaded it. Haven't tried it yet, as I'm a little depressed over Windows 7. I like my old XP. Sob

bill- apple will welcome you with open arms. i can't believe how much I LOVE MY MAC!!!

a bit of a learning curve, but well worth it. it has been fun. i paid $79 for classes at a local mac store here in Portland. I learned more about using this than I did in the 15 years I owned a PC.

Only thing i will say is that even though many people will try to claim that software is lacking for Macs, the truth is that many companies who make both Windows and Mac software are not the best software manufacturers out there anyways. Microsoft is still Microsoft, Quickbooks is Quickbooks, etc. They weren't very good at it for PC, and they aren't any better for Mac. I ditched QB and went with a much more basic software package for my business. MYOB makes fantastic accounting software for Mac and their basic is free to download. Many applications are free, and there are tens of thousands of apps for Mac that make it a better choice.

i also highly recommend buying a refurbished apple from apple.com. you'll save at least 10% and get the same computer with the same warranty. they even go through and inspect these, which is more attention than the macs get on the production line.

buy your apple care warranty package off eBay too. You'll save 60% and get the same deal. just buy from a reputable seller... obviously.
