I know eBay doesn't allow us to include links to websites on our listings however is it ok to include something like, "visit us on the web at shagmidmod" or "google shagmidmod on the web"?
either way my website will be easily found without the www. or .com in it. Just curious.

I dont think you can advertise your own website on ebay, but you can say click on Me Page to get more information on what we sell?

i don't think you can advertise your web address anywhere in your listing including within photos.
i'm not sure if i'm in any violation of eBay policy since i am not including a link or even the actual web address... i think we can include an email address within the listing. this would clearly indicate we had our own website as well.
i may call eBay later today to inquire about this.

eBay Policy overview
When you list items on eBay, you can include certain kinds of links in your item description to help promote or sell your item. However, there are some kinds of links we don't allow. For example, you can't link to personal or business websites from your listing.
A link is any text or image (such as photos, logos, or icons) that takes a user outside of eBay. It does not have to be clickable. A link can be a web address, such as "www.mysite.com", or text, such as "please put a 'www' and a '.com' around my user ID."
Make sure your listing follows these guidelines. If it doesn't, it may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.
-----------
Since I am not referring to www. or .com I think I am ok. I'm going to make sure I call eBay from my account that this is not an issue... just in case they open my account to see if I am in violation. I'm sure this will raise a red flag, depending on how lazy the eBay CSR is.

I believe that there are instances where you can have a link to your site -
If you have a page on your site which further explains terminology used in your item descriptions - such as a glossary, and there are no items offered for sale.
Or, you create an About page on your site - which contains information about your business, and does not list items for sale.
In both instances a shopper would be taken to your site. This is being done by all the big stores that are on ebay.
And, Vendio places a link in our images, and gallery to take a shopper further into a Vendio store.

ok, so i called eBay and got a vague answer. basically, according to the rep, it would be up for debate how it was worded because it could be considered that the buyer is leaving eBay to go to another website. it isn't a problem if the website is informational, but cannot sell anything, even items not on eBay or does not meet eBay requirements to be sold on eBay.
this includes a simple phrase such as "find us online". according to the rep, even if you provide a link to your site and your site provides a link to another site that sells items, you are in violation. none of this is stated in the actual policies.

I think on your photos you can have your domain as part of a copyright statement. You just can't say a phrase that drives people people to go to your website. If your buyers are smart enough, they can find you.

You will find out-do ebay bidders realy want to leave Ebay to come to your site or my site or his site?
why not spend your time and money on Google ad words?
I have found out there are people out there who dont shop on Ebay and will come to my site and buy gifts for their college kids or girlfriend etc and they dont ask you to show the bottom of the figurine or swear it is mint in box, they just assume you sell MIB items, else why have a store??

yes, i agree.
there are numerous ways to attract business outside of eBay, and my point isn't to just depend on eBay... but to be in different places so that more people find you. The more direct lines to you the better off you will be. Social Networking & Word of mouth (twitter/facebook), Advertising (google/yahoo/etc), Listings through large market sites (eBay/amazon), and direct marketing at shipping are pieces of the puzzle. Each piece is important and could potentially get you much further than you would if you use only one method.

I took a few min. to edit my saved seller list today and came across one I hadn't visited for awhile called faded*plains. Looks like they have been successful in linking to their website and blog from their ME page. I don't think they've had ebay offerings on for awhile now.
