I think this is 1930's. She's 12" tall so it's not a small figurine. The owner cannot remember anything about it. Not marked (of course). Any guesses on where she might be from?

I found a mark! When I turned her upside down, I found it on the backside of the flower pot. Here's the information I got from an eBay discussion board member:

You have an absolutely wonderful example from the studio of Sebastiano Zanolli, Teodoro Sebelin and Alessandro Zarpellon (ZSZ). Before these three artists joined together to form their company in 1921 each had obtained a great deal of fame on their own. Each was born in Nove, near Venice and all three had descended from famous families of ceramists.

When the three artists came together under one roof the success of ZSZ was assured. Their products, especially their figurines, were widely sold in the U.S., England and Canada. The best known of this trio is Teodoro Sebelin and examples signed by him often sell for hundreds of dollars.

Your figurine is a very early and desirable piece dating between 1921 and 1930. It was designed by Zarpellon. Should you decide to put the lady up for auction I can assure you that it will be headed back to its country of origin because examples of ZSZ ceramics are more commonly found here in the U.S. rather than Italy and ZSZ is a very collectible mark.

Here's the mark

YEA!

Perhaps someone here has a membership and can give you more info?

I googled "zsz ceramic"

Thanks, LtRay. I think mine is lovely and if she were mine, I'd never sell her.

I guess I'll most likely be shipping her to Italy. UGH! The only good thing is that it'll have to go Priority Mail because it's too heavy for First Class. I'll have to get a Certificate of Mailing, too.
