Hi, all. We want to sell our 2007 Lexus SUV; it's more car than we need, and it's hard for me to get into and out of it, with my arthritis. I convinced my husband to let me list it on Craig's List a couple of weeks ago.

Lordy! The junk and spam we got! "Buyers" who want us to accept a cashiers check, and this one below, as examples. We finally took the ad off the list in disgust. Never got one response that made sense or sounded safe. Here's the latest, 10 days after we deleted the ad!

------>>> First, before we discuss anything, go here: http://thenextiphone.webs.com/ It is the next giant wave, simply wait and see 5 months and I'm the only woman you probably know who's got access to one. I suppose it is your luckiest day .

Honey,I came by the palm springs, CA advertisement and seriously, it kind of made me glad. Ya might be the last seller on Craigslist left that I know who is not greedy. Almost all other people want to charge buyers an extra $XXX amount simply to make money. What happened to the good days? Anyway, I'm the electronics sales representative at Target. Each month, we reward three loyal consumers by sending them the hot gadget of the time. At times it is a laptop, other times a cell phone. I've even seen one guy get a HD tv . Can you picture his family's excitement hahaha. Well, the three people we invited to try out the iPhones haven't responded so we still have them. I'm supposed to ship them out to manufacturers tonight but if you claim it before midnight (the sooner the better) then I'll be happy to personally ship one out to you tomorrow morning. You need the special coupon page to claim it, here it is:

craigslist is filled with BS like this... ironically, I have always sold each of my last 3 cars using Craigslist. None of them took more than 1 day to sell and I was able to sell ALL of them for more than KBB.

I'll never forget the dealership that laughed at me (literally) when I told them what I planned to get for my last car. A few days later I got more than what I told them. Ha! I went to another dealership and bought the same exact car for $4000 less than the other dealership would offer it to me for.

I've listed a few things on CL. Sold a oak table that was too large to ship.
I have a friend that sell lots of stuff there - she always has good luck.
You just have to expect the crazies to come out.

Best suggestion for Craigslist. Do NOT use the craigslist email system. Post your phone number instead.

That way you will get locals calling to inquire and avoid the Nigerian scams, and the barrage of emails telling you that you don't have to sell your stuff to get by in this tough economy.

We list furniture regularly on craigslist, and we never use the email system. We put our phone number, address, and web address in our postings. Legit customers who insist on emailing us go directly to our website and get the email address from there. People are so funny about doing such simple things as picking up a phone and calling to ask questions.

Since doing so, we don't get ANY scam emails from craigslist.

All of these emails you get like this are basically phishing for you to respond so they can get your email address. DO NOT REPLY to these emails, not even to tell them not to email you again.
