Decided to open another Ebay account and start some items at 99 cents with no store, so the listing will be free.
What a waste of time!! So far have listed 28 items. 1 sold for $1.04. 12 sold for .99. 5 unsold @.99 and the rest still listed. These are all new items that retail for between $25 and $70.
Shipping was reasonable for the items from 4.50 to 6.50 (2 were calculated by weight). The last 2 items sold to one person were heavy and retail for $48 each. She paid $19 for the 2 items including postage from NJ to CA and for some reason PayPal is holding this money for 21 days!! or until the buyer leaves FB. What the heck is that all about?? They have my CC # on file.
To make matter worse, in the email I got saying I have a payment, but they are holding my money until the buyer leaves FB, etc. They say to mail the item right away to the address they have in the email and the address is WRONG!! The address on the notice is incomplete. The address on the Paypal page in my account has the complete address. The one in the email notice doesn't even have the state. It say Modesto, United States!!

You should do some reseach on selling on Ebay with a new seller ID?

It was 2 years ago ?? when Ebay made the changes,if you have low feedback or new in selling,Paypal wont release the fund until your bidder leaves you feedback or USPS dc shows it has been delivered or a 21 days hold etc,you can probably find all that information on Ebay help page.
I dont understand the 99 cents listing either,I guess Ebay is trying to show how good a pimp it is.

Merrie, although I've never tried it, I've watched the 99 cent auction listings and it's never a happy ending. A better bet- if you know what an item should sell for, list it as such with BIN. If you don't know, list it as auction with a high enough opening bid that you can stand selling it for.

I've been experimenting with $5.00 jewelry listings (dropped the free shipping)and I've managed to give away some pretty nice pieces of jewelry. LOL
However I have noticed that I've received some very nice offers on the jewelry in BIN format during this $5.00 sale. So maybe I'll keep at it for a bit longer and see what happens.
BTW this isn't on a new ID. Merrie - that could be your problem. Why not try it on another ID?

Thanks for the advise guys. I will probably use the new ID as a buying ID in the future. I have been remiss doing research on new selling IDs. I was foolish enough to think the same rules applied as in the past(I know, I know!!)
The 99 cents thing is ridiculous. I have no idea why Ebay started this. It does not make sense to their profits when items sell for 99 cents even with the PayPal fees they only make about 54 cents total on each item. Senseless!!

Me thinks Ebay someday will separate store from auction and Paypal will be more than just internet and Paypal may be spun off from Ebay.

Ah well, it just keeps getting better. I sold an item to a buyer for 99 cents + 4.50 postage. It retailed for $40. She claims I sent the wrong one (I had 2 different styles listed, sold both). I apologized and said I was confident I had checked the contents and I sent her the right one. Could she send me a pic. She replied, no, no camera.
I said, OK, I am sorry I will refund you payment in full. Did that. She further claimed she still wanted the item she paid for.I told her I did not have any since I only had one in the beginning and now I have none. Apologized again, told her mistakes happen, blah, blah, blah: She has an item for free, has her refund and can go buy another one of these items if she wants on Ebay from someone else.
End of story she just left negative feedback!! She has her refund and can keep the item she claims is incorrect. Can't win!!
Put a reply under her neg, but what good is that!!
