The summer crazy times are here! Have one customer who bought a baseball mitt, claims it came with an ink mark on it which is definitely not on the photos. She says my little children probably did it - my youngest is 37 years old and he does not play with markers anymore.
Next, I get two messages from a guy who has $25.00 to pay for a $31.67 item he bid on and won. He wants to send me the $25.00 and pay the rest when he gets some more money! I think it is time I took a summer vacation as I am losing patience and am having trouble being civil with these people. I have offered the baseball mitt purchaser a $20.00 refund and she keeps the mitt or a $139.00 refund which is the cost without including shipping and she sends it back. This will probably sent her into a major hissy fit. By the way, I have 4071 positives and she has 15 - guess who's side eBay will be on! AARRGGH!

all they have to do is to file dispute with Ebay and you have to refund in full, including shipping.

Ask her to send pics of the ink on the glove. Just be careful not to get the fraud switcharoo on you. I had that happen with a new in sealed box camera. Major headache. I offered the buyer to exchange it. He filed an Item Not as Described dispute with eBay stating he wants a refund. eBay awarded him the dispute and told him to return it (at his cost). He returned an old, defective, scratched, broken camera that he switched the serial number plate on. eBay didn't make me refund him, but eBay did refund him. I had to file a police report, file a fraud claim... and eBay did absolutely nothing to the buyer. NOTHING! I should probably be glad the buyer didn't leave feedback. I still have the camera in my office. I tried to offer it to eBay.

One of the first items I bought on eBay (in 1995) was a piece of pottery with a scribbled grease pen signature. The shipping slip explained it was to protect the seller from having to refund for faulty items exchanged for the pristine items he shipped. He would not refund unless the returned item had the signature in tact. I remember Vendio users who took it a step further and used invisible ink, seen only with a black light, to mark their pieces. Maybe it's too late now, but you might want to discourage the return by stating you will refund if the invisible ink mark is there, if not you will report them for fraud.

Ebay will not do anything with the bidder,it is their gravy train .
Also it is your words against his, they cant punish him just because you said so.

I also found out that some buyers will try anything and say anything just to get a few dollars back.
I say to them just send the item back and i will refund all your money,, that's the simplest way to deal with people like this.
You know that there is nothing wrong with the item, and you also know that they are trying to see which button to press that works for them.
I had a buyer who said, the bracelet I sold her was not the one in the picture. I said, I don't see how that can be since these are vintage antique items and I only have ONE of each. And they said it was not sterling.
I said to her, just send it back for a full refund if you feel this is not the correct bracelet. She writes back saying well my friend really likes it so maybe I will keep it. Whatever!!
Around Christmas time I had a buyer not pay for weeks, I just waited till after Christmas and emailed her another finial invoice, She wrote back a nasty email calling me all kinds of names, saying its her holiday, and who the h**l do I think I am when this is her holiday, and more crap.
I wrote her back saying this is my holiday too but on ebay there are no holidays, you either pay or don't pay but calling me names will not work here. And, I told her don't even email me anymore because I don't talk to rude people. She sent me an apology email, and then she paid and I shipped. But you know what, I don't care anymore and don't like walking on eggs for buyers.

I have one offer for complaining customers, send it back for a refund. I would never offer offer a partial refund. If its a scam the customer wins and brags to all their family and pals...if it isn't they are going to be pizzed.
I'll pay you xx you send the item I'll pay the rest later ain't gonna happen bucko. Send all the money!!! if you don't I will NPB you in 7 days.

If they feel they overpaid for the item, they will say there is something wrong with the item BUT make it difficult for you to accept the return-like COD/UPS and there is an extra charge for COD ;or you must return my money first before I return the item since I no longer trust you !

Well, what a surprise, she took the $20.00 refund. I guess it was worth $20.00 to avoid a hassle. Also, the guy who did not have enough money to pay for his purchase paid in full today and thanked me profusely for my patience. Oh well, win one, lose one.

pixiamom - I just tried that invisible mark thing on someone who won a pair of speakers from me.
One had a damaged dust cover which was fully disclosed in the listing - I feel the ending price reflected this damage as well. The winner emailed to tell me about the damage (what??) and stated that he really just wanted one anyway to replace his broken one. I wasn't thinking and offer a refund for the one once I identified my invisible mark. That was 2 weeks ago and I have not heard another word.
I guess I'm lucky that I didn't get the 2 broken ones back???
