I don't know when my sales have been so bad. Is it because I'm no longer a TRS or is everyone having a bad month?

Historically, September should be very good. I'm getting a lot of website sales, whereas the summer was as dead as Generalissimo Francisco Franco.
I understand an unannounced change to Search was made recently. In some categories auctions are getting preference over fixed price by a factor of 4 to 1. If you normally only run FP, you might try that.

Slow Sales...NO Sales....I wish I had that problem.
.
.
I haven't listed much in the last month. Only 4 listings. All coins. But all 4 had a final price that after figuring in fees was 10% less than I could have received by selling them wholesale immediately to local dealers.

.
I'm thinking of forgetting about selling completely...after 12 years. The equation has completely changed and I can make more money buying.

Actually I have had a better month than August. But then I happened to get some great glass that sold well. I list a little bit of everything, one of a kind things, so sales can be sporadic.

I sell most everything I put up for auction. Only thing is I use to run 10 new auction every day and now I run about 10 a week. I research every item and if they haven't been selling and bringing a good price I do not run it.
If I am going to sell it cheap I can do that at the local flea market for cash. I don't have to pay PayPal or eBay.

It's funny you should say that (flea market for cash). I sometimes find sterling silver jewelry, flatware or holloware at garage sales. Once I would have sold it on eBay without hesitation, but now the jewelry categories are so trashed with fakes and lying Chinese sellers I don't see how anyone could shop there. I scrap everything. The Chinese haven't ruined the scrap metal categories yet. On the contrary, they're doing better than ever.
Oh, that reminds me, I found a creamer/sugar set of etched glass, sterling-clad. That I will probably put on eBay starting at 99 cents.

There you go,put yourself in the same league as the Chinese sellers,Rwandian sellers,Bosnia sellers !
Soon the whole country will go for 99 cens, everyone is rushing to cheapen its currency so someone will buy from them-the Greeks, the Brits, the Americans, except the Japanese, they dont know how!
it is called 'Beggar thy neighbor 'policy.

If you want to be a metal scrap dealer,do it right, weigh the metal part first, someone will ask how much it is in troy ounce?
I just blocked a bidder who asked about a set of servers with sterling handle.
She wants to know how much do the sterling handles weigh and is it hollow ?
I sent her to the scrap metal category.

I guess it just depends on what you're selling and where. I listed about 30 items last weekend and for the first 4 days things didn't sell. Over the last 3 days I've seen some good sales.
I should say, I am pretty much exclusively doing fixed price with "make an offer". I am offering free shipping, but including those costs in my BIN price and setting all of my automated accepts to be within 10-15% of my BIN price.
I have sold a few things that other sellers have had to relist repeatedly... and I lost my TRS and Power Seller status. I still am taking a hit on FVFs now that I don't get any of my 20% discount, though I should be getting back 5% next month. The Power Seller status is meaningless if sellers drop out and come back in every other month. It is plain and simply dumb.

My store sales have stayed the same, selling 2-4 items per day, more on the '2' side.
I am not complaining,it is easier than auction.
But under my auction ID,I am ridding 'things' which are either my own personal possession or leftover from the go go days of Ebay.
Auctions start at 9.99 and the results have been a pleasant surprise!
So if you want to play gutsy, start low and see what happens.
E.G
An item just ended, started at $9.99 and ended at $100.

don't you just love the "factored" in your TRS???
what bothers me is the guy this past holiday season that returned the old, damaged camera that the serial number plate was changed.
this guy opened a dispute and what I got was not what I shipped him. so, not only am i subjected to fraud, but eBay will now hold it against me when someone commits fraud.

Ebay as a venue provider is getting more and more into micro management.
Shag,
I wonder if you have ever considered being an Ebay assistant?
Instead of sending a letter to Ebay CEO what's his name, these SOB/SOP letters are usually read by his young assistants anyway.
Why not suggest expanding the role of the Ebay assistant turning those with brick and mortar store into an Ebay depot, with their financing/backing,you hire assistants who will help locals to sell on Ebay, you will be the first stop to examine the merchandise, gives advice as to how much it can fetched ,provide feedback to Ebay and keep up to date on Ebay latest, like 160,001th rule .
It will take some burden off Ebay customer support, serve as a liason between Ebay and the sellers/buyers and attract traffic to your store,Ebay has the $$ to finance these expansions if they make sense.
Ebay is not a fad,it is not going away ,you may end up as a wholesale Ebay dealer AND wheel a lot of clout.

Our sales are still spasmodic but profitable. We have increased listing in Asian markets and noticed a steady increase in sales to HK, Taiwan, Singapore and Japan. Always love to get more Yen to fill our Japanese bank accounts
