One of my Buyers called Yesterday and told me that e bay suspended his account for using stock photos, he sells watches and sunglasses.
Lucky I gave up selling on e bay two years ago, I was using stock photos all the time.

I have had a problem with eBay's two faced image policies.
On one hand, eBay discourages sellers from using stock photos. I had this very thing happen to me when I had a buyer claim an INAD for a brand new digital camera that was sealed in the box. I used stock photos. I sold several of these (ebay could easily verify these were new). The buyer returned a beat up used camera, switched the Serial Number plates, didn't include the original box or accessories. The eBay rep told me I should not use stock photos. Hmmmm... Brand new item in a sealed box. If I open the box, then I can't sell it as a new item in a sealed/unopened box. I filed a police report and submitted it to eBay. Ebay did absolutely nothing about it.
On the other hand, eBay offers a stock photo catalog from other sellers: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html
This allows other sellers to use your photos... but there is more. eBay actually rewards sellers who offer their photos for this service. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/sharing-content.html
It is frustrating to know that eBay plays both sides of this issue... both in their favor.

Liberty - Not to call you on the carpet, but you have posted numerous issues with selling on eBay much much more recently than 2 years ago.
January 2010: http://www.vendio.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=692966
March 2010: http://www.vendio.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=694254 Libertywatches states, "Please advise what should I do, after all the items I sell on e bay I make very little profit maybe not worth-ed for me to continue selling on e bay if they are listening to my side of the story."
I agree there are issues with stock photos... but for some reason I do not think we are getting the whole story from Libertywatches.

Is dropshipping more of a problem in certain categories like electronics, watches, any new merchandise you can easily buy from Home Depot,Target etc?
All you need is to list an item with stock photo, collect the payment and then go buy the item?

I have never done drop shipping. I have always been concerned about putting trust in someone else shipping items out in a timely manner. Amazon's fulfillment is obviously different.
I used to sell certain items for local artists through our biz website. I quit doing it b/c it was such a hassle. I would tell them I had an order, then it would be... "well, I don't have time for the next few days to get that done... blah blah blah."
Obviously, this is different than drop shipping too, but it still is a trust factor for me.

He called me to tell me, that's all.
He did call e bay and they told him they will reinstate the account but he cannot use any stock photos from any company.

Depending on the category your friend lists to, they may be able to use the 'pre-fill' option with eBay, which has it's own set of stock photo's.

So, where did he get these images? Were they taken from another website? Were they from eBay? If so, were they taken by another user? Were the photos genuine items, but the buyer received a fake?
I still don't get the "I gave up selling on ebay two years ago" when you recently posted questions and comments about selling on eBay.

Well I shouldn't say I don't sell on e bay, I went Down from $30.000 plus in sales a month to under $2000 from 300 items to 28 items, I'm just selling items that I can't sell on my web site.
This guy copied images from Fossil.com and other major web sites like zappos

are the watches he sells genuine or knockoffs of the real deal?
photographs are considered intellectual property and some people take it very seriously.
As a long time photographer, I definitely do. I report any use of my photographs to eBay. I've had several listings removed by other sellers for stealing my photos. I do not participate in the eBay stock image sharing system. I work hard to go through the trouble of photographing items.
