Just checked in my ebay and the same email was there, so i guess this email is for real.

But I don't know the reasons why they are telling me to make a claim to get my money back.

Why is ebay telling me to make a claim against this seller? Also in my bought items nothing is showing and I did buy things during the last 2 months from him and other sellers,. its weird.

Could it be because of the word TAINTED in the title?

Did the seller misspell "tinted"?? Tainted may look as though the lipstick is dangerous to use.

have you shared this with the seller?

if you've bought from them before, I would contact them. Several years ago I listed a pair of sportsmen noise silencing headphones that were still in the packaging.

The company who made them filed a Vero complaint against me. There were several bidders, but one contacted me about it. He received a similar email from eBay against me.

Maybe the seller has a conflict through Vero, or perhaps someone complained they were selling counterfeits, or the misspelling in the title (we hope).

My situation was quite different though.
The company registered with Vero were abusing their registration by filing claims against sellers who sold the item they manufactured. Because I was unsure why this was opened, I contacted eBay who actually contacted the Vero registered business. The company tried to claim they held the rights to restrict who could sell the item, which is a bogus claim since I was the rightful owner of the item and could sell it as I wish, provided it wasn't a regulated item, eBay compliant, I didn't misrepresent it or sell a counterfeit. eBay agreed with me.

This was quite some time ago, so eBay actually cared about this matter. Nowadays, eBay would simply suspend you and not look back.

Could it be a scam? there is no https: (the s is for secure). Although it did show up in your My Ebay also, strange. Did I understand you did not buy this lipstick from him recently? If not, it smells a little fishy.

I did buy this lipstick from him just a few weeks ago and I was so happy to have found it.

The auction is not showing in my "bought Items" anymore so I don't know the sellers name, guess I could check in my paypal account but there are too many transactions to look through.

I had saved him to my saved seller list and it's not there anymore either. Last week I went and checked his auctions to see if he listed the lip liner and all his auctions were showing plus he was in my fav seller list then but now hes gone from my list.

I don't know if it was because of the word tainted.

But what really is strange Ebay is telling me to make a claim against him why would I want to do that? I paid him and I got what I wanted.

Lipstick is a prohibited item if it is tainted.

sthoemke, very interesting, something I didn't know. I made a search and checked this site out.
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/realityzone/UFNpoisonkiss.html

I was surprised what I read.
Then I clicked on the link Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database.

I searched "lipstick" and all the makers names came up. They show a rating for each lipstick and how bad it is for you. I put in Trucco Sabashion which is the one I bought and they don't have it in there database. I wasn't able to find any info on it.

Since the auction is gone, I couldn't look at it, but possibly they left out required wording that the product is new and never been used.

Eh, guys...the color is named "Tainted". The lipstick is perfectly safe to use.

I suspected that eBay's secret directory of naughty words may well include 'tainted' to avoid potential liability issues. Unfortunately, the auto-bots that search for secret naughty words can't analyze context, though with roughly 1,000 auctions (including 8 for the same lipstick) with 'tainted' in the title running right now, the 'bot may well consider listing categories.

Seems just plain stupid to call a lipstick color "Tainted" when that is the industry name for product containing lead! Maybe they have renamed the color?

I know this is going to upset some people but chemically all cosmetics brands are pretty much the same. They use the same ingredients. There are slight variations for fragrance. I used to use an Elizabeth Arden product that had elderberry essence. $50 a jar then, ouch.

Each brand caters to a specific market segment. And the segment of young, hip, edgy females is attracted to names like Tainted. Actually, Tainted is tame compared to slang words for semen, which are popular now. Variations on profanity (Sexy Mother Pucker) or sexual activity (Foreplay, Lust, X-Rated) are almost too common now to note.

The fact that the names make it difficult to resell on eBay is probably a side bonus for these companies. They want you paying full freight at Nordstroms.
