Of course someone would try to cash in on the purse!! Name of seller is tv/newsguy, how appropriate!

the money is going to the Mike Jones - the Salvage Santa guy that shot the shooter. He is the one that fixes the bikes all year long and gives them away at Christmas. Ebay ended the other auction because they said it didn't meet the Charity guidelines.

We get all the crazies here - Tiger Woods, Joe Francis (Girls Gone Wild) and now this. We used to be a sleepy little town. Now we are headline news. Sigh.

here's the youtube video with CC. warning. full video - although there is really no blood involved that I saw, he does go down. But I am watching on my laptop. It might be worse on on a big screen. The audio was horrible on all the Youtube videos so the CC was very helpful, I couldn't understand what he was saying. It is kind of biased by the uploader at the end with a screen caption.

here's what he said in the ended auction:

"eBay removed this idea by mistake Sunday evening. Unfortunately, all the previopus bids were lost. So if you were bidding please bid again. Thank You, Joe Moore"

In the rules eBay has the right to reject any auction that fails to meet their criteria. I think the eBay guidelines forbid the sale of morbid collectibles. Also without being a registered charity there is no way to tell how much if any of the money will go to the families. In my mind this has all the earmarks of a seller wishing to cash in on a horrific event.

Yeah it seems like Mike Jones would be pictured if he is involved.

he's doing this personally to give the money to Mike Jones. Mike Jones would never ask for the money. Ginger just wants to do this for him. It's 100% legit.

How come the ad does not mention that it is going to charity. Or am I blind? I don't see it.

The first one was cancelled by EBay because they said it was going to charity!
Apparently the second was cancelled by mistake so....third one...maybe!

You can Google Ginger Littleton purse auction and see what it says but DON'T click on the one that says "where can I buy Ginger Littleton's Purse?" because it takes you to a bad website. Or so Firefox said.

Ginger’s purse nets big bucks on ebay
NEWS HERALD STAFF REPORT
2010-12-22 19:56:51

PANAMA CITY — Ginger Littleton’s purse was auctioned off on ebay Wednesday night for 13,100.

“That’s just amazing,” Littleton said. “I am thrilled to death that the purse will have another life and will do some good in the community.”

WJHG News Channel 7 organized the auction and the proceeds will to Salvage Santa, a local charity. Also, Brahmin, the company that makes the purse, has announced that they will give a matching donation to Salvage Santa.

The purse cost Littleton nothing, her mother-in-law gave it to her for free, but it captured the public’s imagination when Littleton, a Bay District School Board member, used it to try and disarm 56-year-old Clay Duke. Duke held the board hostage with a 9 mm last week.

During the incident, he let Littleton go but instead of leaving she crept up behind him and swung her purse at his arm. She failed to knock the gun from his hand and fell down in the attempt but other members of the school board and the public have given Littleton credit for trying. Board members have said that if Littleton had not hit Duke, bothered him and ultimately convinced him to step down from the dais, he might have started shooting them in the back.

Duke ultimately opened fire on the board until he was shot by Mike Jones, the district’s chief of safety, security and police. After being shot, Duke fired back at Jones, missing him completely, and then took his own life. No one except Duke was injured in the incident.

Littleton said she has heard that the brown faux crocodile handbag is very fashionable, but that did not play into her decision to wear it on a regular basis.

“I know nothing about purses or anything else fashionista,” Littleton said, adding that her mother-in-law “gave it to me and the price was right so I used it.”

{0 feedback winner}

Actually it wasn't. Maybe you have it confused with the seller.

Did you miss this? I thought this was pretty nice.

Also, Brahmin, the company that makes the purse, has announced that they will give a matching donation to Salvage Santa.

glassgrl...

I think the TV News people have done a super thing, and that Brahmin has made a great offer and Ginger deserves a lot of credit for her actions! The Salvage Santa is a wonderful idea.

Some folks are far too skeptical about things!

Edited for typo.
