What is it with Tuesday always being the free and penny listing day? Why not a Wednesday, just for variety?!?

I wish they would stop these weekly free/penny listings. It kills sales.
One of the last free listing days cost me between $100 to $200 dollars. I had a group of collectible toys that should have sold for $250 to $350. I had plan to start them all low and see what happens. I listed one group on Monday and got bids right away. I listed the second group for Tuesday before they announced the free listing. The second group SHOULD have sold for far more than the 1st group. Well that didn't happen. I knew I should have pulled them all and wait for a non-free time to list them or up the price on all of them. I ended up only making about $150 on all of them.
I think I'll sit this one out.

The one good thing about free days is you can start the auctions at higher prices & if it does not sell at that price, you can always relist it since it did not cost you anything.

Yes it is better to use these free listings for higher price items. Unfortunately ebay never gives us much warning so that we can get more expensive items ready.
Also if an item doesn't sell, is it because the price is too high or there are just too many listings?

But if there was more notice, the listings would be even more jam-packed.
I don't worry about the late notice because I use the free / penny listing days for relisting items that didn't sell at auction. It gives me one more chance to relist in the auction format before moving an item to my eBay store. So I get one more chance to sell it at a lower Final Value Fee and it doesn't cost me anything more than a click of the relist button.

Another free one tomorrow if you list for 1, 3 or 5 days. Guess it is just as good as 7 days since the results will probably be the same!!

I get the feeling eBay is doing this to pacify one or more high volume sellers who are threatening to pull out. to make them happy they have to give us all the same deal.
