One day, Monday,11/21. New deal every week. Maybe they should just make all listings free.

Has anyone ever checked the number of listings now, versus one year, and two years ago?

I wonder if they need to keep the number of listings up, especially for the holiday buying? Or, they may just need to pump up the number of auctions.

The reason I ask is that since many sellers now have their own sites, the number of listings may be down.

We have virtually replaced eBay with sales from our own site. The same may be true for other sellers.

I wondered the same thing, Bill. I do not know whether any site monitor the # of auctions any more.

At least this time it is not on a Tuesday and by having 7 days, you end on Cyber Monday.

I doubt many sellers have their own websites, many Ebay sellers are small sellers who sell from home, they dont really have a special niche to strike out with their own website and expect Ebay bidders to follow them.
I do know ETSY has many sellers some are Ebay veterans who find EBAY too competive, fees too high and too many rules!
I moved my shop from Yahoo Shopping to Ebay store and my sales have improved tremendously.

I agree that if they are going to have this many free listing days they may as well just make them all free.
Yeah there is something wrong with this picture.

All these free listings just allow the sellers relisting and relisting the same items ,it gets in the way of any one using Ebay Search, you see items you are not interested keep showing up like regular fixtures!

Hwahwa, what do you think sellers are going to do on these days? They only get hours notice & it is basically free, so why not.

And how is that any different from the items listed in Stores that show up in search over and over?

The store items which do not sell,Ebay inserts a message which said this item has no sale for x months, like 12 months or 6 months or 16 months or 24 months,if the seller insists on paying a listing fee and keep it in the store, the only thing Ebay can do is to reduce its visibility in search ranking.
This is different than Ebay offering free listing and end up with the same items being relisted over and over again FREE !
For the buyer ,neither approach helps him to make a purchase, for the seller one is getting free listing while the other is paying a listing fee.
This is a lose/lose/lose situation, neither auction seller or store seller or venue provider (Ebay) wins !
