I had to write here to let you all know about a wonderful buyer. A few weeks ago, our much loved 13 year old cat got very sick and eventually had to be put to sleep. I know I was distracted, and I accidentally sent two craft books to the wrong people. The one wrote very upset that she got the wrong book, so I explained what must have happened, and told her to hold it until I contacted the other buyer and I would get her to mail the correct one (they were both in the US) and I would refund them both. Well, she returned it to me express for $12.99.
The other buyer was very understanding and said she would be happy to mail the book to the other buyer when it arrived. I mailed her book to her when it arrived back here. She wrote yesterday to sayt that it still hasn't arrived. I told her I would send a full refund, and she could just keep it when it arrived. She wrote back and said she didn't want me to do that, she was happy to wait patiently.
I replied with thanks and explained about our cat, and she wrote back and said she understood, she recently lost their dog and they were devastated.
I returned a message and sent a picture of our Buddy. Here is the reply that I found in my email box this morning.
"I am touched by your loss and the nice photo you sent me. I am a portrait artist of people and pets. I would like to offer you a colored pencil portrait free of charge of Buddy. I live in *****NJ which had the largest loss of people from 9/11. My husband and my son were both in Manhattan on that day, and came home. I offered to do portraits, free of charge, for the families who lost a loved one. I completed 335 portraits before the requests stopped coming and did a portrait a day, 5 days a week, for 2 1/2 years."
I am just overwhelmed with the kindness of this women, another of the unmentioned heros of that dreadful event that we don't get to hear about.

Thank you pmelcher, we miss our Buddy so much. However, the wonderful kindness of this lady has touched us so much, and the promise of this picture was our best gift this Christmas.

She sounds like a wonderful lady. I think there are more buyers of this kind than the bad ones. It's just that the bad ones can make it so hard on us.
I'm also sorry for your loss. It can be as hard as losing any other family member.

Thank you for the kind responses. Yes, I agree, the majority of my buyers are great. I just had made another mistake during the time Buddy was so sick, I accidentally did the same label on 2 packages, and the kind buyer has mailed the wrong one on to the correct buyer.
It is true, the bad ones really stand out, but they really are a minority. I have made some really good friends from selling on eBay, a couple of them have sent me boxes of magazines to sell, free of charge, and wouldn't even let me pay shipping, and one drove up from Va to Canada to visit, bringing many gifts which was overwhelming and very unexpected.

Reading a note like yours makes me wish I had kept the nice emails customers took the time to send me over the years.
