I received an inquiry from a potential cunstomer asking if she could pick up the item instead of having it mailed. Local buyer.
How do I prove to eBay that she received her item?

you could always ask her to pay cash!

There isn't likely to be any occasion for proof unless the customer complains. I would print the listing and have the customer sign that it was picked up on date, time.
You can also tell the buyer that your business is mail order only and you are not set up to receive customers.

you can always ask her to show you the driver license and you make a copy of it and then take a picture of you and the buyer and the item and also make her sign a paper like the previous thread said.
Ebay seller forum may give you some good idea.
Years ago there is a couple who sell DVD from their trailer home and they have a large balance in their paypal account from selling dvds.
then they bought a truck from an Ebay seller ,they went to his house and looked at the truck, then they went inside his house and use his PC to access Paypal to make payment for the truck.
you would think you got a sure thing ,right>
WRONG !This couple did not ship any DVDs,they got into the truck and skipped town. The buyers filed complaints with Paypal and Paypal traced where the money went and cancelled the payment made to the truck seller .
The DVD buyers got their money back but the poor truck seller lost his truck.
It was in the news ,it must be 10 years ago.
May be the police tracked down the couple, never hear what happens .

Have her pay with cash or a cashier's check... or if you have a Smart Phone you should get a free Square Account and card reader.

You can go to Radio Shack, Best Buy, Target, Wal Mart and get a card reader immediately or order a free one by mail.

If you get it at a store, they charge $10 but Square will deposit that money into your account after you sign up. You set up square to auto transfer funds to your bank account after payment. It takes a day or two. We love Square.

Cost is 2.75%

You don't have to prove delivery for pick ups if you don't accept Paypal.

It should say 'you dont have to prove delivery for pickups if you dont accept any credit card payments/
If the buyer files a chargeback with his credit card issuer, the seller has to prove delivery of the item.

Another thing I have done if I was feeling esp vulnerable for a pickup, after getting them to sign a receipt, I would mail a copy of that to their home with DC so I had a DC to show tp PP. Make sure you get their address if you are doing the exchange @ a secondary location.

In person transactions really should be with cash to protect yourself. They see the item before paying, so they should not have any qualms.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I waited for the buyer to suggest paying cash, and agreed to it. Wanted HER to suggest cash.
I was one of the last people in the world to sign up for PP. Fought it tooth and nail. Customers complained that I didn't take it, but never got beat out of my money or merchandise.

I don't think ebay or paypal can stop you from requesting cash for a pick up. It really makes the most sense.
However, I have had customers pay with paypal and pick up the item later. In which case I had them sign saying they picked up the item and it was as listed.

There was one time when I sold a 3 piece sofa for $1000. The customer paid with paypal and arranged her own shipping. I blanket wrapped it and the freight company came and picked it up.
As they drove away, I realized they didn't give me a darn thing showing that they picked it up. How stupid was that??? It all worked out fine but let's just say I didn't sleep too well until she got it.
I still have a photo that she sent me of the sofa sitting in a bay window area of her lovely Victorian home. It was meant for that space.

The freight company would have internal documents showing they have sent a truck over to pick up the item .
they should also have copy of invoice sent to your buyer for service performed.
Whether they will let you have a copy ,I dont know?

DC of a receipt is not proof of delivery of the physical item.
Some screwball seller once claimed he shipped a huge plasma Tv set and has a USPS green DC to prove it,of course he lost the dispute as USPS does not ship TV of such size.

Not every transaction can use Paypal as payment method, one example is size of the payment,Paypal does not process payment exceeding a certain amount.
There are some sellers selling large lot of this and large lot of that and the sum comes to over 100,000 dollars and it has to be arranged outside Paypal.
Also I dont think you can use Paypal on Ebay motors, can you?
