I received this email. My name was on it, but I do not see any items that were ended. Did anyone else get this notice??

We want to let you know that for a few hours on August 3, we had a technical issue that caused some information (including item specifics, item condition, return policies and shipping) to be dropped from some seller listings on the site. The issue has been resolved; however, some of your listings were impacted. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Rather than have your items continue without all their original information, eBay has ended all of these listings. You can find your ended listings in your Unsold Item section of My eBay. Please review them to ensure that the item specifics, item condition, return policy and shipping information is as expected prior to relisting them using your usual listing tools.

We will credit your account for twice the insertion and features fees incurred on all the affected listings. You will receive at least $10 in total credits to offset any inconvenience caused by the need to relist your items. These credits can be viewed in the Account Summary section of My eBay within 7 days.

We will also be reaching out to the buyers who were bidding on any auction-style listings that ended early as a result of this issue. We will let them know that the listing ended early through no fault of yours and encourage them to check back to see if the item has been relisted.

As always, we want the experience on eBay to be problem-free for buyers and sellers. We’ll continue to work hard to make that the case. Again, please accept our apologies for the disruption to your business.

We appreciate your business and thank you for selling on eBay.

Sincerely,

Michael Jones
Vice President, Merchant Development

I sell under multiple seller ids,I did not get an email like yours.
However,my return policy which stated please notify us first and a 5% restocking fee does not show up on active listings.
But if I revise the item, the description is there.
It is just not showing up for the buyer to read,so what good is it?

I only got this under the email address attached to my store ID & I cannot see any items that were ended. It does not say some of your listing MAY have been impacted. It says WERE impacted.

It looks official & there are no links to click to send me to bad places. I am confused!!

The promise of twice the insertion fees with a minimum $10 credit for the "inconvenience" seems particularly generous for eBay. I'd forward it to eBay for verification.

The notice was just a heads up that people should check there listings to make sure all is ok. The info in the listings could be replaced electroniclly in a short amount of time. To make sure all the into was now correct would require checking each listing manually which might number into the 1000's or even a million or two and would take days.

The message says all listings that were affected were ended & could be found in your UNSOLD section & to check them for accuracy before you relist.

Lots of Discussion about this on the EBay Boards.
It was a legit glitch but this time they are acknowledging that there was one however they have not posted anything on the System Announcements Board!
I guess their burst of efficiency only goes so far!

The system is so complex now, someday with turnovers among Ebay IT staff, who is going to know all the features of the system?
You can tell how bad it is when you look at the item page, all the extras waving in your face- like more like this ,or this listing has ended, you are protected by ebay protection, read more;earn Ebay bucks, learn more;Paypal.learn more;see other items, learn more;buy now pay later, learn more;14 days return policy, learn more,go to hell, learn more.

How right you are! It is like a rat's nest of programming!

Very, very weird. Does anyone at Ebay know what is going on?? I forwarded the original email to spoof, just because it was weird. I had no closed items, but the email had my name & no links to click.

Here is their reply!!

Thanks for forwarding the information in this message to [email protected].
We take reports like this seriously and appreciate this kind of feedback
from you. Most likely, the message you received was not sent to you by
eBay.
We'll review the message and work to stop any suspicious websites it
links to. We'll also send your reports to Internet browser companies so
that they can develop tools to identify spoofs.
If you're worried that you may have given your personal information to a
spoof website or that you included it in a reply to a spoof email, be
sure to take immediate action to protect your identity. (Your personal
information includes things such as your eBay password, credit card
information, or banking information.) You can find more information on
protecting your identity here:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/account/protecting-identity-theft.html
We send all messages to your email address that's on file with your eBay
account *and* to your Messages in My eBay This is especially helpful
since many spoof emails try to convince you that your account is in
jeopardy.
Our Security Center has more tips on how you can protect your eBay
account:

Thanks again for sending us your report. Please note that you may not
receive a personal response.

So, did it come from Ebay or not!!

Hello,

There is an article on EcommerceBytes (formerly AuctionBytes) about this. I don't know if it will answer your questions, but it might be helpful. You may locate the article here:

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks, Nathan. Read the article, but not sure why Ebay now sends me an email that the original email was a "spoof." Just goes to show, no one knows what's going on there. Or, just too lazy to investigate & just send canned answers.

Not inspiring much confidence in me.
