I've had a few recent transactions where I have had to issue a refund for a purchase.

Some were from buyers who paid for multiple items individually that needed to be shipped together, some were from buyers who paid for items and used a PO Box address for a Fed Ex shipment or asked to have it shipped to an alternate address that wasn't reflected as the "ship to address".

I issue a refund and resend an invoice to the buyer via eBay. The buyer tells me that they can't pay using the invoice. They get the following message, "Unfortunately, these items are not available. They may have been purchased already or the item listing has expired."

I have to manually create an invoice in Paypal for them to pay, which is helpful, but the payment doesn't reflect in eBay as Paid and when I click on the "mark item as paid" it doesn't mark it as paid. It just shows the "payment refunded" symbol.

Invoicing has been one of the most frustrating issues that eBay hasn't bothered to fix... but they do expect sellers to get those shipments processed quickly. Afterall, the priority is to make the buyers as happy as possible.

It would be nice if eBay for at least one half of the year focused on fixing interface bugs and system improvements instead of finding new ways to make it more difficult to meet their every increasing expectations.

Additionally, I noticed an item I sold this past week was invoiced with a gallery photo that I deleted over 2 weeks ago. It was nowhere in the listing, but it showed up in the invoice. I only noticed it because it was a listing for a chair that we originally offered with a piece of art that was created with the chair in it. We removed the art from the listing including the gallery photo.

Odd.

Ok. Now here is a new one. Buyer sent payment which had to be refunded because they used PO Box, and I generally ship via Fed Ex. Address was Confirmed by Paypal.

In the end we have to ship to PO Box, so I resent an invoice from Paypal since they can't pay using eBay invoicing (see above comments).

The new payment with the EXACT SAME address is now Unconfirmed.

I am certain the buyer didn't do anything to their account and that this strictly has to do with the invoice coming directly from Paypal and not eBay.

Keep an eye out for these issues because it is truly absurd.

when you issue a refund, did you send a cancel this transaction request so Ebay can refund your fees?
that could be a reason why it shows it is no longer available?

I just had one that I invoiced with sales tax but they paid with ebay's invoice which didn't include sales tax - but I have it set up to charge sales tax. It's not the 1st time either. Guess I have to call ebay to take care of this.
You're right - ebay should take care of these little issues that cost us time or money.

lost- I am not cancelling the transaction, just refunding it so that payment can be resent properly.

1) buyer sends payment
2) I refund payment
3) I send buyer a new eBay invoice
4) buyer attempts to complete invoice and pay
5) buyer cannot pay because of message

When a buyer does finally pay for the item, I can't even mark the item as paid on My Ebay. When I click on "Mark As Paid" eBay pretends it is processing and then the "Payment Refunded" symbol appears again.

Another example, yesterday a buyer from Alaska bought something that I have as shipping via Fed Ex which isn't an option for Alaska. I gave him a quote for USPS shipping which was about $5 more for me. Instead of waiting for me to invoice him with the proper shipping, he paid with 2 payments, one for the item, one for shipping. I had to refund his two payments and send a new invoice... but the eBay invoice won't work, so I send it via Paypal with the item number, etc in the listing.

I am discovering that this is also creating an issue Confirmed Addresses appearing as "Unconfirmed" because I am invoicing through Paypal, not eBay... but eBay's invoicing isn't working.
