I have had a Fed Ex account for years. In the past we have printed labels from our Fed Ex account and then copy/paste tracking into our eBay page.
Now that eBay is offering Fed Ex it has made it easier... but I have some concerns.
I called Fed Ex regarding shipments and how their entire shipping process works, but don't know if this applies to eBay or not.
FE rep stated that when I print a label from their site, I get a shipping quote. The final price may be the same, more or less, depending on how accurate my dimensions and weights are. So, if I pre-print a label for an item with an estimated weight of 7 pounds and the package weighs 5 pounds, my actual charge will be less. If the package weighs more than the 7 pounds I will be charged more.
Anyone have any experience with if this is valid for eBay's Fed Ex shipping as well?
I am going to experiment a bit with both and see just how accurate they are.

One other thing. Fed Ex also doesn't charge if you print a label and don't use it. Anyone have experience with eBay when using Fed Ex in this situation?

You have to check your Paypal account and see if Ebay charges you for printing a Fed Exp label?
If it does, you may have to void the label yourself from My EBAY.

A few weeks ago I have to ship a painting to China sold on Ebay.
I printed the shipping label on Fed Exp site, like you I have a Fed Exp account thru Ebay .
I chose to use Fed Exp mailing tube and it weighs a little over 1 lb and it tells me it would cost me 150 dollars.
I printed the label and drove to a Fed Exp office ,placed it in the Fed Exp shipping tube, filled out the forms and it weighs slighly over one lb.
They told me if it is under 1 1/2 lb ,then it is priced as one lb ,if it is over 1 1/2 lb,then it is rouned to 2 lbs.
Then they told me the same as they told you,it could be 150 or more or less, depending on weight.
We wont know until they invoice us.
I rarely use Fed Exp,it is better to use your own packaging instead of their tube as the painting is not that long and bring your own stuffing as it would cost you 3.99 to use their brown paper.
Or you can use the trash paper on their floor or trash can as stuffing as they all look very clean to me !

I found this on Ebay-Fed Exp questions and answers.
It looks like Ebay pays Fed Exp and bill you on your monthly invoice.
If there is any difference in $$,ebay will adjust it on your monthly invoice.
If you dont use the label you printed on EBAY,Fed Exp would not bill Ebay and Ebay wont bill you.

I have been tracking my Fed Exp shipment to China,it was shipped Feb 9 from Houston.
It arrived in Memphis FEB 1O,Anchorage Feb 11 and Beijing on Fed 12.
From Feb 13 to Feb 20,it has been sitting in Chinese Customs office,no further tracking shown .

I had a customer who wanted me to use his Fedex account for 2 packages. One was large and the other was small.
He sent me the labels and I printed them out.
I didn't put the labels on the package as I wasn't sure if I could tape them etc.
When I got to Fedex, I told the clerk I needed to make sure the right label got on the right package. She said it didn't matter.
I email him when I got home and he said yes it DID matter. He said they won't lower the price if the big label went on the small package but they would charge the true price on the large package. So he could pay the price for the large package twice.
So you are smart in doing the research.

Interesting information so far. I just went through the last 9 shipments on my Fed Ex account. So far, not one courtesy rate quote has been correct, nor has the amount charged been less than what the quote was.
One thing I just noticed is that our rate quotes have been for Ground shipping, but all of the transactions were to residential addresses which incurs additional charges.
I am starting to comb through those shipped to business addresses to see what I find. Will let you know.

Looked at all of our business shipments over the last few months. Not many to choose from, but all of the courtesy rate quotes were exactly as charged with the exception of one which was slightly higher.
I am going to run a few packages that are 1 pound more than the actual weight and see what happens. I am curious to know if Fed Ex is being honest and will lower the charge or if they will either charge the courtesy rate or even more.
Should be interesting. It will take at least 10 days to see the results, but I will share. I also plan to test through eBay as well to see what happens. Hopefully I will get enough packages through that will make this easy. I had 8 shipments today and the only one that would have gone Fed Ex was shipped USPS because it was a local shipment and cost less via USPS.

Another interesting thing I see is that the quoted residential surcharge is $2.80, but I am being charged $3.20.

May be if it is an apt complex,it could cost more,as the driver meanders around looking for that particular apt unit.
also in gated community,he has to get a password or ask someone in the office to let him in

I just called Fed Exp on the billing on my shipment to China, using Fed Exp tube, priority shipping and declared value of 150 US dollars, total weight is 1 lb 4 ounces.
My total comes to 155.69 dollars, which includes 85 cents for declared value and 14.65 fuel charge.
It took Fed Exp 4 days to deliver the package from Houston to Beijing and then it sat waiting for customs clearance for days and days and finally delivered on Feb 26th.
It looks like USPS Global Express Guarantee maybe cheaper, which is also run by Fed Exp.

Come to think of it,what is fuel charge?
One would think Fed exp vans and trucks are not driven by ponies,so where does fuel charge come from?
USPS express mail guarantee is run by Fed Exp and there is no fuel charge .
