Am I the only person that thinks this "chicken" rating system stinks, and is useless. I just got 3 x 1's out of one buyer in the last week. Shipping time has NEVER been a problem of mine. I dont get many low ratings, but worse, I cannot figure out who the person was, OR WHY? When you get 3 low ratings together, the person is pissed off, but I have received no bad or questionable feedbacks.

People will bid on items I list as "junk or incomplete", and write me because, you guessed it, parts are missing. They don't READ the ads. If the customer does not like what they got, even if the ad was clear and correct, how come WE as the seller get negative results that we had nothing to do with.

Is it possible for a person who you open a non-payment issue with can leave you low ratings? How do you find out if this was the case if you don't know who the coward is that is leaving it?

Further, how can you fix the problems with this "passive/aggressive" feedback system? I don't know what they were unhappy with. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have asked Ebay rep about feedbacks,he said buyers are allowed to express their Ebay experience and words of mouth is important to spread the good words.
You can send your buyers a feedback revision request if you know who they are ,but there is a limit of how many you can send,so dont waste it on petty stuff, use them on Negs.

This is not about the normal negative feedback ratings. It is about rating on your dashboard, IE the 1-5 feedback rating system that is given in "secret" by apparently ebay's need to allow passive/aggresive people a secret way to leave a bad feedback without ID'ing themselves.

You don't know what you did wrong, you don't know if it is some newby not understanding that 1 is low, not high, and you cannot even find out who did it and why. For $200, you can completely destroy a competitor without ever identifying yourself. YOu can leave stellar feedback, and still give the sellers bad dashboard feedback on the four levels undeneith the feedback.

What a stupid, convoluted system. In the rare cases of bad feedback, at least I can block the person from buying from me again, but if you don't know who did it, you cannot defend yourself, nor know why they were unhappy.

Again, Ebay is being run by EEOs who apparently don't know a single thing about humans, secrecy and business, or fair play.

the biggest clue - who bought 3 items from you?

I don't sell 3 items very often, perhaps you do... but that would be a good place to start narrowing it down.

buyers leave not so favorable feedbacks,it could be they have a bad hair day,it could be they are not impressed with what they bought, may be their expectation is too high or may be you did not disclose some flaws or they find out actual shipping is too low compared with what they paid for shipping.
In real world, retailers have no way to find out who is talking about them behind their back.
Not everyone is like Neil Diamond who took out one page in WSJ and said his car is a lemon.
Some sellers will add to their item description that they expect 5 stars rating,if you cannot do so,please contact them first?
Some will offer money to change the buyer mind,I have seen that.
I doubt any ebay seller will spend $200 to destroy another seller, most of us are small sellers,it takes a lot to make $200,if you are gone or destroyed, there will always be other sellers to take your place.
