I have been using addresses provided through eBay for shipping, either printing them directly from eBay or using our Fed Ex account.

Can a buyer have a different address on eBay shipping than what their Paypal payment shows?

I just noticed that the address provided through eBay shows up in my Paypal account as "unconfirmed".

eBay doesn't provide any "confirmed" or "unconfirmed" info in shipping details. What happens if the address I get from eBay shipping is fraudulent?

Yes, they are often different.
I have handled 3 in the last two days that were not the same but all perfectly legit.

One was from a lady in British Columbia who lives right on the US Border and has a Post Office Box in a small US border town which she uses when she has items shipped from the US. That is her address on the PayPal account. On her eBay account it shows her Canadian address.

One today whose address on eBay is Singapore and on his PayPal payment it is an address in Portland, Oregon.

The other one was similiar.

To be covered under the 'Seller Protection' are you not supposed to ship to the address shown on the PayPal payment??

I think you are worrying too much about Fraudulent Buyers...99.9% of people are honest.
I usually find that there are good reasons for different addresses...if I have a concern I just e-mail the Buyer and ask them which one they want it shipped to...never had a problem yet.

In your Ebay profile, you can have so many addresses!
address registered with Ebay, address your seller should ship to,address you as a seller would ship from, address which your buyer should return items to.
All these can be different from the address you confirmed with Paypal.

eBay and Paypal have changed their policies so often that I can't keep up.

This particular buyer is in Australia, but the package is too large to ship via USPS. So, he sent me a USA address for a forwarding service.

I checked the payment details and found it to be unconfirmed. When I went to my Fed Ex account to create the label it said it was "Residential" not "Commercial" which I found odd.

So I Googled the address, looked at Street View and found it was a large house in Colorado, not a warehouse.

I don't know if this is a friend of theirs or what. I then looked up the buyer info and found he is a fashion designer in Australia.

I shipped, insured the item and required Adult Signature.

I don't even see eBay addresses for my buyers any more, only Paypal. Where are you still finding them to make a comparison?

The Buyers address is shown on the 'Your Item sold' eMails from eBay.

I don't even check anymore but I do all my USPS labels in ebay and all my UPS labels in Paypal.

You can see it in "My Ebay" "Items Sold" then find the item, and choose "Order Details" or "Print a Label".

I don't ship Fed Ex through eBay. A few reasons:

1) I don't like getting a bigger bill at the end of the month through eBay.

2) Fed Ex bills when the item is delivered.

3) I get cash back if I use my Paypal debit card to pay for shipping and also rewards points from Fed Ex. I have a 2nd FE account that I get airline miles for each shipment through Fed Ex.

4) Fed Ex has Integration Manager which imports eBay sales including addresses so I don't have to do much other than click, enter weight and dimensions and done. It even updates tracking numbers to eBay.

Thanks, shagmidmod.
Otteropp, they have not appeared in my item sold emails for some time now.
Just another eBay change to complicate what was previously simple.

wgonzales...how odd..

all Buyers addresses as they are registered on eBay appear in my 'Your eBay Item Sold' e-mails.

Who knows what eBay is doing from day to day!! I give up trying to be one step ahead of them and I just evaluate each new wrinkle they throw at us and see if I can either:-

1. Ignore it and carry on as before
2. Get over it and live with it
3. Decide if it has the opportunity to make
me more money. Never had that happen yet.
4. Will it impact me enough that I stop
selling on eBay.

Most of the time I end up choosing Option #1.
