It took 18 characters to spell out Mid-century Modern. Finally eBay has allowed the use of MCM instead for search results saving me 15 characters in the title for other words... now I struggle to find more keywords.

There's an abbreviation list?
I did not know that. Where do you find it?

I'm certain that this list is not complete. I wish eBay would release an official list.

I have been using "vtg" instead of vintage for a few years both to search and for listings.

Also NIB for "new in box" or NWT for "new with tags" though most people don't search using either the phrase or acronym for those.

Interesting search results using the acronym MCM vs Mid-century modern.

45,000 items using MCM
67,000 using Mid-century modern

More interesting is that many of each don't use either in the title. They are listed in mid-century categories.

So if someone searches for Mid Century Modern and you use MCM, they still won't find your item?
I would think that's an important part of the search and wouldn't want to leave it out.

What do you mean by "ebay has allowed...".

Couldn't you always have used, well, whatever? Unless this is some well-known (and used) acronym, not sure how much it would help.

I think the difference between the two searches is that the whole word will include items that are listed in the Mid-Century Modern categories under antiques and collectibles that do not have the full name or acronym in the title, while MCM will pull up the items with "MCM" or "Mid=Century Modern" in the titles. So far, that is what I was able to get from my search testing.

So, if you use "MCM" in the title and list in the Mid-Century Modern categories you will probably be in both searches.
