From a buyer:
"When I calculated my length requirement, I measured the length between the opposing slots and then I added 1/2" per side for the length that is inserted on each clip. If it would be possible for you to provide a little extra to be safe I would sure appreciate it. I'm going to place my order now. "
-------
Kudos to asking politely... BUT, we do offer the item in longer lengths in the same listing. They could have purchased the 10 foot length "to be safe"... but it does cost $7 more for those extra 2 feet.
The item is imported from Italy, and is quite expensive and limited. Why would you send this email at the same time you are buying it?
Imagine if I sent an email to Duncan Hines. Can you please add an extra ounce of cake mix to my box because I am supposed to have 14 guests instead of 12 (the box says 12 servings).
Don't be cheap and pay for your "safety" issues instead of expecting others to do so. Ugh!!!

Now that I have vented, I replied in a way that wasn't rude, but to the point.
"Hello. This is a question we have been asked many times. We used to only sell this in 10 foot lengths, but because we received many emails asking for either extra or less, we started offering it in different lengths so buyers have a greater choice to meet their needs."
Hopefully, he realizes that it was his responsibility to buy the appropriate length he was comfortable with, not ours.
I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling on this one.

very good, but this is the way Ebay buyers behave, something for nothing.
It does not pay to do business with bottom feeders, most of my negs come from bottom feeders,3 for 1 deal with free shipping,I got a neg for selling cheap stuff.
These days overseas buyers are not afraid to return items, all the way from Japan,Australia and MARS!!!!!

I agree and now that you mention it, I am going to start marking the straps at the ends with our invisible ink pens. It will not affect its use, but will be present in case there is an issue or claim that we shorted them. Now they can't just cut off 2 feet and say we shipped the wrong amount.

Yes I did. I also opened the shipping box and marked it in security ink on both ends after he followed up with, "as long as it is 96 inches and no less it will work.
I also double checked and noticed Cindy gave him an extra two inches. I'm not as generous. I usually give no more than ½ to ¾ an inch.
