My husband said it was on the local radio station. It is now on national news. Anything from eBay? I haven't seen anything. I changed password anyway and to be safe I changed password on Paypal as well.

It showed up when I clicked my ebay. A warning appeared asking me to change my password. but it would not go into the section that would let me change the pw said it was busy do to high traffic.
"Early this morning PayPal posted a disturbing message on its blog: "eBay Inc. To Ask All eBay Users To Change Passwords" The post has since been removed without explanation, but not before people tweeted the news, was picked up by Engadget and then by Reuters and other publications and blogs."
I am really glad that I have the Security Key from PayPal installed on both my eBay and PayPal accounts. I believe the extra layer of security is great to have, as long as you can find the Security Key when needed. I have the new key which is similar to a credit card.

I went ahead and changed my pw in ebay and paypal. Don't I also have to re-link to vendio and other places.
My internet connection is really messed up and I can't get on line but for a few minutes at a time. Any help is appreciated.

I don't think we need to do anything for Vendio. We use tokens instead of providing Vendio with our passwords so that shouldn't be affected.

I just got an email on the one password I didn't change, telling me to change it and any other passwords that matched. Problem is on my main ID, I had it set to auto fill in and now I don't know what it was.
Good work ebay - tell us 3 or 4 months after it happened.
Edited to change mean ID to main ID. I only use my mean ID as a buyer!! lol

Password update in orange sign on eBay this morning - click it and it has this article

Important Password Update
Reset Your Password eBay Inc. Information Site
Keeping Our Buyers and Sellers Safe and Secure on eBay
On Wednesday, we announced that we are asking all eBay users to change their password. This is because of a cyberattack that compromised our eBay user database, which contained your encrypted password.
We take security on eBay very seriously, and we want to ensure that you feel safe and secure buying and selling on eBay. So we think it’s the right thing to do to have you change your password. And we want to remind you that it’s a good idea to always use different passwords for different sites and accounts. If you used your eBay password on other sites, we are encouraging you to change those passwords, too.
Here’s what we recommend you do the next time you visit eBay:
Take a moment to change your password. This will help further protect you; it’s always a good practice to periodically update your password. Millions of eBay users have already updated their passwords.
Remember to always use different passwords on different sites and accounts. If you haven’t done this yet, take the time to do so.
Meanwhile, our team is committed to making eBay as safe and secure as possible. We are looking at other ways to strengthen security on eBay. In the coming days and weeks we may be introducing new security features. We’ll keep you updated as we do.
Thanks for your support and cooperation. eBay is your marketplace, and we are committed to keeping it one of the world’s safest places to buy and sell.

I have the orange sign on the top of my Ebay page, but never got an email notice or saw any sign of an announcement. Had to see it on the national news!! Thanks, EBAY, good job.

I got another email today but the following was added at the bottom - I find it a bit odd. Why exclude BIN listings:
Additional protections for sellers with auction-style listings
We recognize that the password reset may temporarily interrupt the normal bidding process for buyers. We're taking additional steps to ensure successful transactions for sellers:
•All listing and final value fees will be refunded automatically for auction-style listings that ended between 6:00 AM PDT on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, and 11:59 PM PDT on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Sellers will see these credits on their June invoice.
•Sellers can end any auction-style listings without penalty between 6:00 AM PDT on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, and 11:59 PM PDT on Saturday, May 31, 2014 and will receive a credit for all listing fees related to these listings on their June invoice.
•Sellers can also cancel any transactions from auction-style listings that ended in a sale between 6:00 AM PDT on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, and 11:59 PM PDT on Saturday, May 31, provided the buyer paid with PayPal and we can verify through PayPal that the buyer's full payment has been refunded.
Final value and listing fees will be credited on sellers' June invoice and any associated defects or negative buyer feedback removed. These protections will be applied automatically. The transaction must be cancelled within the above timeframe to qualify for the credit and defect/feedback removal.
We will also be communicating with the winning bidder for any cancelled auction-style transaction during this time period to ensure they continue to have great buyer experiences on eBay.
We apologize for any inconvenience or concern this situation may cause. Nothing is more important to us than the security and trust of every customer in our global marketplace. We know you have high expectations of us, and we are committed to ensuring a safe and secure online experience for you on any connected device. More information and updates are available at info.ebayinc.com.

I think they are assuming that buyers also had to change their password and didn't have time to bid??? I don't understand the 31st date. But I had to cancel a bid and end an auction due to my error so it's fine with me. Saved me $15.00 FVF
