I am at a loss as to what to do now that Picasa is being replaced by Google Photos. I only heard about it today.
I have used Picasa for a long long time to edit my photos and organise them for my eBay & Etsy accounts.
I remember I used to use a program called MGI PhotoSuite but about two computers ago it was no longer compatible so switched to Picasa which is not as good but has served me well enough.

I just looked at Google Photos and can't seem to wrap my head around it.
I want a SIMPLE photo editing system. I don't upload web albums or personal pictures or movies.....grrrrr.....

Does anyone have any suggestions?

No suggestions.
Just a companionable expression of horror that I am going to have to find and learn a new photo program...again. Arrrggghh!
Thanks for the heads up.
Susan

Susan, so nice to know that I shall not be alone in my search for a new editing system and the learning curve that goes with it.

I count myself in with the 'I always like to try something new' crowd however that does not extend to any technical stuff!

If you find something you like and it is SIMPLE please post it!

Yours in Desperation...Penny

I maybe too late to help you but I've always used IrfanView. It's free and very easy to use IMO.

No, you are not too late. I have been sidetracked by something else for the past week so am just getting back into the 'challenge' of photo editing!

I tried Irfanview some years ago but will have another look at it.

I have been preparing a huge number of items and my ever patient hubby has been photographing them for days so I can put them into Picasa and edit them while I still can which will give me time to find something else.

I bought Photo Studio editing software years ago,I am still using it for my Ebay photos.
It is old bu suits me fine ,the latest version is too complex for me.
Some cameras come with limited editing software

I've used IRFANview for many years too. Of course my editing requirements amount to little more than straightening the image, cropping, sometimes resizing and saving in jpg format to my computer for upload to Vendio.

My phone images were backing up to Picassa (I think) via the cloud. Not sure where they are being backed up now.

I actually use my phone for 95% of my listings now. My new phone takes better picture than my camera does now. Also very little editing is needed.

I still find it funny that phones take photos!

When I retired I threw my cell phone in a drawer as I no longer wanted anyone to know where I was or what I was doing......freedom at last!!
We carry a very simple phone when we are out in case of emergency.

It was about a year after I retired that the cell phones came out that took photos. The first one I saw was in Las Vegas on Fremont Street a young Japanese girl and her friends were beside me holding up their phones to the nightly light & music show and I said to my DH " How nice that they are letting their friends at home listen to the music". He told me they were actually taking photos or probably a video. I looked at him and said "NO...NO...it is their PHONES they are holding up".
He gently explained to me that the phones now took photos & videos!
We laugh about that to this day.

Otterpop,
I have the misfortune of having to get a new desktop processor and this time it is window 10(my old one is window 7) and Picassa comes with it.
It seems pretty good, once I connected my card reader to my PC,Windows will ask me if I want to upload my pictures and where to and before I agree, they are in an album and after uploading,it asks me if I want to delete these pictures from my card.
I have been using Photo studio software for many years and my version is no longer supported,so I went to their website and download a trial version Photo studio version 6 for 14 days trial and do my editing there.
But Picassa or Google photos seem pretty good,if you are willing to play with it.
Photo Studio version 6 after the free trial, you have to buy it and I DONT really see anything exciting compared to my old version since 2000?
But I have used it for so long,I may keep using Photo Studio, but there are many free photo editing software out there

Google photos or Picasa,I am afraid if we keep our photos on Google Cloud,we may have to pay someday??
