Hi all, just thought I would throw a positive and non political thank-you type post out there for ya!

We were planning on selling and moving, that fell through, but we decided to have the moving sale anyway. I was kind of worried because of the "garage sale doldrums" thread, (which I can't find now or I would have posted to that). I had the usual junky type things that we all collect in our cabinets, drawers and garages. I also had a bunch of stuff that I had recently bought at other folks garage sales. Most of it with the original stickers on it. Some of it I cleaned up and put new (sliiiiighly higher) stickers on. Some were ebay / flea market dogs that hadn't sold during several previous attempts.
I had 5 tables and 2 shelves FULL, sold out a bunch Fri and restocked on Sat. I ran the sale from 8-1 both days.
Only a few folks even tried to dicker with me, so I knew I had things priced reasonably, I didn't turn a profit on probably HALF the stuff I had! I didn't care, I was having a good old fashioned garage sale! I chit chatted with the neighbors, saw lots of regulars from my other garage sale dealings, gave happy meal type toys to the kiddies, petted the folks dogs, had lots of inquiries about the house and neighborhood... just generally had a pleasant experience!
The best part is, now I can get out there and restock with fresh inventory. PLUS I freed up just over $500 to do it with! (I am definitely hitting the dealer's auction on Tuesday!)
How did I do so well you ask? Well, I'll tell ya... all of you kind folks out there on these boards talking about garage sale peeves and dislikes made me extra careful abot signage, pricing, smoking, roaming dogs and the like.
Thank You all you picky posters and garage salers who helped me out! I learned a long time ago that we learn more by listening and reading than we ever could by doing. This was my best sale ever!
Now all I have to do is reconcile my inventory.. yech...
