Everyone should see that program. There are different cultures and then there is something else that shouldn't exist. What they have/are doing to their people is like something out of the Spanish Inquisition, except they are doing it in the 21st century.

I saw it the other night, it was haunting. The deeds of the Taliban were pure evil (IMO). In addition to the horrific acts upon the Afgai's, I was particularly outraged by the Taliban representative's explanation of why their executions are perfomed in the football stadium, and what the international community should do if they want the Taliban to move them elsewhere. The piece is must see TV.

I watched this Saturday night from 11 to midnight ~ was so very upset and sick to my stomach and had trouble falling asleep
Just horrible and those 3 little girls that watched their Mother being killed and god only knows what those men did to them
All those killings in what was their Stadium Football field, sick, sick, sick they are.

The Foreign Minister did explain why they were using the football stadium for executions. That was the only facility they had for such civic events but they'd be happy to move the executions elsewhere if the international community would fund such a facility.
It sounded like something out of a Woody Allen movie, hard to believe that Foreign Minister was sincere, but he was.

Yes, and he also commented that executions were a "joyous event". That one really did me in.

Maybe they should consider legalizing music, tv, movies, internet, etc.. Those people are definitely in need of some other outlets.

I asked friends to tape it for me. - Hope they did.
All these men that treat women so bad usually depend on them for all the domestic drudgery.
Don't they ever sleep? If someone treated me that way I would make sure they did not wake up.
Had a boss that married a second time. After a couple months he came home drunk and slapped the wife around terrible. fell on the couch and went to sleep. She got a large cast iron fry pan from the kitchen and gave hime a double handed face massage.
After 3 reconstructive surgeries he looks similar to what he used to.
She was surprised he did not want a divorce.
Even though she swore she would do the same again. It was 14 years when I moved away from that town and he would still drink too much now and then but he never forgot to keep his little mitts to himself.

Gravid, when you see the tape you will see what happens to Afghani women who take your advice. Hint: It's in the football stadium.

Seeing posters in here posting always makes me visualize what they look like, just by reading their words. Either Im nuts, or everyone does the same thing and just havent said so. Anyway, Gravid, you remind me of a BIG ol burly biker with long dark hair past your shoulders and a beard hanging down your chest. Are you and do you?

A dog in America has more rights that a women in Afghanistan.
If they'll kill a woman for learning to read then you can imagine what they do to a woman that struck her husband. She'd be on the 50 yard line before a cheering crowd.
Actually it's a soccer stadium so there really isn't a 50 yard line. The goal posts double rather nicely as a place to hang the men from though.

I watched the last half of it a few nights ago and watched and taped the whole hour tonight. Actually I was most disquieted by the thought that we've apparently offered these evil hairballs aid and diplomatic recognition if they just cooperate in turning bin Ladin over. (Plus, the Saudis are reported to have offered a huge sum to them too.) Diplomacy be damned, I do wish somebody in our government would just say, "We're going to kill every Taliban leader and cleric, then make the desert dirt bounce some more."

Hepburn - I am just a dainty little fellow -honest- 300+, not much past 6 foot, in my 50's. I wear a 22/36 shirt to fit the shoulders in. My wife gave me a watch with the link bracelet and I had to buy 3 extra links to get it around my wrist. Birth defect - my thumbs are attached funny. SHORT white hair, parted on the side, no denim. No bike. Wrecked one and walked away from them. No beard since it got gray in it. Full trimmed shaped beard and moustache before. Few scars - for some reason I don't scar even from life threatening burns. Rarely get a manicure.
A bit of a gut now but no big butt. I don't try to wear pants 3 sizes too small like so many men if it fits under the belly it don't count. That has always disgusted me. White skin - weird multicolor eyes. A like brown a little blue a little grey. Getting lines around the eyes. Bad hearing, bad knees. Nearsighted one eye. Sometimes I wear all black. Sometimes I wear sweats. Sometimes I dress up. I like custom made. I like Brooks Brothers hats. French cuffs. Real jewelry. Gold not Silver.
Wife nor I own any fake. I wear a heavy 30 inch 18 kt loop in loop chain with a Saudi Arabian ring on it 24 hrs. Another gold ring a male friend gave me. I am partial to tuxedo style cuff links with two decorative faces linked. Like Lapis. Bally boots or Nike Air shoes. Sometimes I color or cover them to suit me. Sometimes I hand sew to modify my own clothing. Paint or print my own t-shirts.
Always have a japanese damascus blade. Carry enough equipment in my pockets to freak you.
So I am hard to lock in anywhere. Once was locked in a coal cellar and got out.
I still have my original soc security card in my wallet. Never lost it. Never had it taken.
Usually have 4 currencies, birth certificate, one credit card, 5 days of drugs, a lock shim and a razor blade.
And a fold up sheet of phone numbers and addresses, no pictures in the wallet. My wife gets my wallets. I have no idea where.
I get a new one every two years. No marks in them.
What are you like???
Serious mouth? Dark hair? ecological dresser?

I agree with you to a great extent. I'd think it would be extremely noble if the US was to send over an F117 some night and drop a bomb on the leaders when they were scheduling the next half-time show for the football stadium.
BUT this is where the US would validate their claims that we were the Great Satan. As wrong as what they are doing in our eyes it damns us in they eye's of many countries. This isn't the first monstrous regime we have sat back and watched. In the 70s there was Idi Amin in Uganda his cruelty and savagery was beyond belief. In the 80s there was Pol Pot and the Kymer Rouge who slaughtered millions for the wildest reasons, if a man wore glasses he was probably educated, or if they had their own cooking utensils they were probably independent, those were people that filled the unmarked graves by the millions. How many other regimes are there that by our standards are a blight on the world?
