Who's to say that Britain's outbreaks of mad-cow disease and hoof-and-mouth disease were "accidental"? With all the talk now of biological warfare, I'd be looking very closely at the "randomness" of those two events. Not that you or I would ever be able to discover the truth -- if we learned that Britain's meat industry was in fact contaminated by terrorists (and it would be sooooo easy to do), we'd stop eating meat ourselves, and throw our own economy into even more of a tailspin.

(Sorry if I've offended/scared anyone with this post; have spent the weekend with extended relatives... shoved my dimwit mind into overtime.)

I would doubt it, due to the fact that the British herds were infected in the 80s, and it wasn't known at the time that it could jump species. The incubation period is approximately 10 years.

I don't know about hoof and mouth, but I'm reasonably certain that screw top beer bottles ARE.

Snowyegret, in light of recent events here in the U.S. (and the years of planning that went into them) why do you think that the destruction of Britain's meat industry was not planned, as well? Terrorism's face has shifted in the last decade -- it's no longer (if it ever was) about spontaneous-seeming attacks. The L.A. Times reported last week that a few of the suspected September 11 hijackers had also trained to fly crop duster airplanes. How many more might be out there, with the exact same training? We won't know 'til they put their educations to use...

Yes, they were terrorist acts and terrorists have already committed the same acts here except this time, they deposited their package in squirrels instead of cows. Those clever devils, we're being undone from Kentucky squirrel-brain eaters up (or down, as to your POV).

No meds, this is as good as it gets (the free show, anyway).

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (aka Mad Cow disease) is already here, it was reported in 1997 in about a dozen Kentucky squirrel-brain eaters. This led to warnings not to eat squirrels that were roadkill, as diseased, confused squirrels were likely to wander into the road to conveniently end up on a plate.

If you think it's likely that Creutzfeldt-Jakob was implanted in cows in Great Britain, you'll probably think it likely that they also implanted it in squirrels here. Be safe, don't pick them up out of the road.

There is no proof that terrorist weren't involved in the introduction of the Mad-Cow/Hoof and Mouth disease. The rules of a conspiracy theory does not require proof to substantiate it, only to dispute it.

Bear in mind that any proof to dispute such a conspiracy is probably a cover story from a government conspiracy. We are now getting into the double conspiracy theory, which is easier to accept as fact rather than argue against with feeble logic.

Cool it folks. USA International Airports have very tight controls over imports of fruit, meat and veg from outside USA. Guess they should tighten up on Internal flights.

It has no drama. These guys want stuff to go BOOM. Destroying an ecomonic asset is boring.
They want blood in the streets. Not some farmer losing the farm mortgage. I can tell you would make a sad terrorist.
Your plan--
Lets all get jobs at Firestone and make crappy tires on purpose! That will teach the capitalist pigs!
or
Let's infiltrate Citicorp and post everyone's credit card on the Internet!
That'll bring them to their knees!

I wonder, Gravid, if just such glib confidence led us to where we are today...

Donny, thank you for the free squirrel brain report. What's the pay-per-view version like? It is starting to sound like a viable alternative to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire...

Donny, so much for the Road Kill Cafe.

Dr. Beetle

Plsmith, since the typical MO of terrorist attacks in the 80s were bombs in public places such as the 86 bombings in Paris and the Rome and Vienna airport attacks, and as the rendering process of cattle feed was changed around 80 allowing sheep scrapie or whatever the infecting agent was to survive, I still am dubious.

Beyond your wildest dreams, but you'd never be able to pay the price to get even the half-hour version. Be thankful.
