I know everyone is edgy because of what's happened lately. This evening a tornado touched down in the DC suburbs killing two people. The most damage was in the Maryland suburbs with the University of Maryland having quite a bit of damage to its campus. I would hope that some folks would take a break from the comments they've been directing at one person in particular who happens to live in the Maryland 'burbs. How about it?

Hi, Saabsister!

I live in the Maryland suburbs and I see now that I was under discussion here, so maybe you were asking about me? If so, I really appreciate your post. My daughter's husband teaches at the University of Maryland but he had left before the tornado hit the campus.

It was an especially violent storm and 2 students were killed...cars tossed around and minor buildings are down on campus. The University of Md and several other schools in the area will be closed tomorrow.
We live a few miles away and had heavy wind, rain and lightning. So I turned the computer off.

Hope all is well in your area!

Helen

Helen, I saw that thing on t.v. this morning and as the tornado was approaching, it appeared that all the lights went out in the (what appeared to be) McDonald's in the foreground. Very scary!!

", the tornado that tore through the region late Monday afternoon swept their 3,300-pound car aloft, carried it over the eight-story Denton Hall dormitory and hurled it 300 yards farther into a wooded area behind University Boulevard."

... more articles and pictures, lots more property damage.

I live in Howard County, MD. Know the areas damaged. Tornado's path of destruction is very narrow, just saw a lot of rain.
