I saw a clip on CNN showing an Afghani cutting down a poppy field. They said the Taliban owns most of the poppy fields in Afghanistan. Does their religion allow them to take heroin?

I just saw a documentary from 2 years ago on Afghanistan. The crew went to a prison camp where the rebels had Taliban prisoners.
They asked one of the Taliban prisoners about the drugs the Taliban moving out of Afghanistan and what the Koran says about it. He said it was alright to sell the drugs to Kaffirs (non Muslims).
I wasn't aware that ..."there is one thing from Afghanistan which is guaranteed to have an international demand, it is opium." And that
"Afghanistan produced 75 per cent of the world's opium last year."
This article also says that the Taliban forced farmers to stop growing their crops, in order to get international approval.
