Fell asleep last night during the premiere...right after the segment where they captured the unruly dog/beast.

Can anyone give me a re-cap of what followed? Did the episode mirror the RL attack & circumstances in San Francisco? How's the new Assistant DA?

I hate to fall asleep *during* a show; doesn't even give me a chance to program the VCR.

Hey Jules!
E and I watched it. Turns out that there was a dogfighting ring being run by a guy in prison through his attorneys. They had bought the unruly beast from him.

They were out with it when it got away and attacked the victims little dog. Victim tried to rescue her dog and ended up getting herself attacked. They left the scene and pretended to know nothing.

Finally ended up in court insisting that the Jack Russell had provoked their dog and that their dog was a sweetheart. The regular DA (the guy, I never remember their names) had their dog brought into the courtroom in all it's snarling, growling glory.

Both defendents jumped back away from it, sort of disproving the only sweet lapdog routine. They ended up plea-bargaining for 3-6 years and the dog got put down.

New DA didn't make a heck of an impression but I'm willing to give her a few more episodes before I make my judgement. The new one's are never much more than sidekicks to the regular guy anyway.

Shani! Thanks for the summary...sounds like they borrowed many of the details from the RL story.

It was kinda funny, though, when they captured the dog in the park it was making the weirdest growling/demon noises...reminded me of the sound effects from The Exorcist.

I particularly liked the ending when the new DA said something like:

"The people got 3-6 and the dog was destroyed. Kind of wish the sentences were reversed."

Can't blame you for falling asleep, julesy. It was a real yawnfest.

Hasn't been the same since they booted Mike Noth (Logan). Benjamin Bratt was useless, and the new guy is one-dimensional. Angie Harmon was a bore too. Oh, and I miss the crusty old guy who played Adam Schiff.

Wish they would get away from the "ripped from the headlines" premise too and come up with some original storylines.

Yep, I miss Logan and Claire Kinkaid. And Adam Schiff...he had such a way with delivering one-liners, along with those facial expressions.

Thank goodness for A&E reruns.

Amen. Really miss Schiff. And most of the character development of the new ADA seems to involve having her wear bright colors. Sure wasn't a lot in terms of dialouge.

Where the heck have I seen the new Asst. DA before? Was she the police chick on Angel, or am I thinking of someone else?

Hi Julsey,

My husband is grateful there isn't a Law and Order channel yet because I'd be there 24/7.

The new ADA doesn't seem to have the bite of Abbie (yet) but atleast she's not the whiney Claire Kincaid (yet). We liked Abbie & her take no prisoners style.

I love the way they re-use their people each week. It's a game we play to see if the bad guy this week wasn't the bystander or witness in a previous episode.

BTW, Adam Schiff wasn't in the original pilot episode. It was a younger guy they used just that once & replaced him w/Adam. Of all the previous cast members, I miss him the most. His sarcastic retorts are oft repeated in our household.

a Law and Order channel

Yikes...I'd have to quit my job...

I dunno, I've seen every episode atleast once, but I always discover a new spin when I see each of them again.

I agree on the recycled actors thing...one week, they're a defense attorney...two weeks later a grieving spouse...next season they're the defendant. Makes it very interesting.

It's Chris Noth, not Mike

Angie Harmon's replacement is from the series "Angel". Unfortunately, I missed it on Wednesday. So, thanks everyone for the update from Wednesday night.

Re: a L&O channel. I've been thinking lately that with L&O being on network, A&E, and TNT, and SVU being on network and USA, and now a third spin-off appearing called Criminal Intent that at any moment in time, there must be a L&O episode happening somewhere.

I miss Noth, loved Sorvino, like Abbey and Claire, but not the Mom-DA, didn't like Bratt, like the new guy. Hated that they dumbed down the intro when they went from using the word, "entities," to the word, "groups." (Love the DA on SVU, and of course, Munch.)

The first time Lenny appeared, it was as a lawyer. The first time the woman-cop-boss (I'm bad w/names) appeared, it was as the mother of a victim.
