Within my lifetime I expect Christmas advertising to start on Labor day.

I can actually remember when it didn't start until after Thanksgiving...believe that?

Maybe it's not such a terrible idea right now, though. We could use something cheery...and I DO love Christmas.

It might be kinda fun if there were gift exchanges too. Just dont know how that could be done on a board. Christmas isnt that far away, and I need something positive to focus on. Maybe some sort of care packages can be sent to troops? Didnt they do that when the Gulf War was going on?

Cool link Terri. Love the Snowman Soup too

Here's an idea for people who dont have alot of room, but want a "big tree":

Make a tree outline with Christmas lights, and do it on a big wall. Sketch out the tree outline...string the lights and secure with push pins. Then hang paper cutout ornaments

'Nother idea: Red, White and Blue Decorations. Patriotic Christmas trees.

Oh stop it. We VENDORS have to start EARLY.

And the Christmas coloring pages are giving me a break today.

Hepburn, last year we went with the red/white/blue package theme. Save a ton on wrapping paper too. Reuse them later.

That's the spirit Michelle! I knew I could count on someone who lies on the beach on Christmas eve!

Then lets do it again, Michelle. Love your smiley. Looks like you are ready too, lol.

In my listings I say its close to THAT TIME. I know I hate seeing xmas stuff so early in stores, but if I have an item that might be a great collectible for someone in ebayland, I dont hesitate to put the bug in their ear. I have been getting emails from bidders thanking me for reminding them just HOW CLOSE it is.

hep...

I need to find room for a real tree...somewhere. I will succeed, too...if I start now. It doesn't seem like Xmas without the fragrance of a bushy little tree, shedding its needles all over the floor...

I want a real tree this year too. Last year, it was a fake one. I think I will buy one still in the pot this time, then after xmas is over, donate it to the forestry service to replant somewhere.

Im really digging the idea of a gift swap thing for the people in AW who are interested. Those who are, just say so in this thread (if Terri doesnt mind), and maybe we can get Michelle to write down the names, put them in her baby's bootie, then draw out two names. Those are the ones who will swap. Sound good? Any other ideas?

Last year, we had no tree at ALL. It's all eBay's fault. We have a small house with a sunroom overlooking the lake. Well, we can't have our eBay stuff in the shop...drives customers nuts if they see stuff they can't buy...so it all goes in the sunroom. Our tree spot was clogged with merch... We just had a wonderful house call, so it's even worse now. Guess we'll have to squish one into the living room, somehow...

Last year's thread, folk were posting their wants and others were meeting them. I remembered RainyBear and her spaghettios spoon

I seem to recall in AW's long ago past (and I've seen them at *other* places ), gift chain threads where the originator offers an item postage paid to the first person who wants it. The recipient offers another item and the chain begins.

I think either would work

Psst Terri - I hate the beach. Too much sand. I'll stick to the pool [ edited by MichelleG on Sep 30, 2001 02:56 PM ]

I just read through last years thread. I remembered it after Michelle posted the link. That was a fun thread, even though I didn't post in it, I enjoyed the fun.

Perhaps we could start two different threads, one with items we have and are willing to ship, and one with stuff we're looking for?

I would love an original copy of "The Four Little Kittens" with pictures by Harry Whittier Frees. I have found repros, but the real books are somewhat rare and too pricey for us. My mom would love it, we had them when we were kids.

I have also been looking for a Windsong Bottle, the ones that looked like a crown. Empty is fine, I just want one for old times sake.

I'm thinking about what I have to offer...

Meya, I wish I would have know about the Windsong bottle sooner! Saw one at a yard sale this past weekend. I will keep my eyes peeled, next time, though.

A thread of I WANT sounds good, and one with I HAVE. Should prove interesting, eh?

And, MichelleAW, where were you yesterday? *You* know I edit my profanities properly and only aim them at my dearest friends. SaraAW deleted a harmless post of mine last night. Made me cry

Okay, now I really DO have to laugh out loud! Thanks for your indulgence
