I was just thumbing through the JC Penney catalog and noticed the styles remind me of when I was in high school (1966 to 1970). I wore lots of plaid mini skirts, and I see madonna got the craze going. So, that leads me to this question. What is your style, right now, that you wear and feel good in. Me, I wear leggings alot, with long floppy sweaters, t-shirts or long mens shirts over tank tops. When I dress up, its hippie skirts that are floor length, with long blazers or pullover tops and wide belts on the outside. During summer, I live in my bicycle shorts and tank tops.

Jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. Over the years I have gradually trained my employers to accept that as my daily wear at work, too.
I haven't worn a dress since I was a junior in high school and they finally said girls could wear pants to school.

I wear polyester slacks and some sort of sweater set (cardigan, etc) to my office job. I consider it my uniform!
And, I wear pearls with my cardigan twin sets, otherwise very little jewelry. I look very conservative. Little do they know.
Weekends, whatever is lying around and is comfy! Dress up.....long black skirt and tailored blouse. I've finally figured out how to look presentable without a lot of work. But it's all really a disguise.

Baggy t-shirts, leggings, slouchy socks, and Reeboks(I've found a style that's really comfy and been buying the same style for years. If Reebok ever discontinues the style, I'm sunk). Occasionally, I'll wear jeans and a denim shirt to accompany the Reeboks and slouchy socks(Note a theme here? ).
As for dressing up, I detest pantyhose and heels so I avoid wearing them as much as possible. It's been over a year since I wore a dress that required PH and heels.
As you can imagine, I'm not a fashion plate. I dress strictly for comfort and to hell with style.

*gasp* I thought all ebay sellers just wore their PJ's all day?
As for going OUTSIDE of the house, it's jeans and a t-shirt or shorts & a t-shirt. I haven't dressed up in 3 years since I started doing ebay full time! (Well, except for my brother's wedding... jeans weren't acceptable )

I have to wear casual/dress to work, so that means flat front dockers and short sleeved type shirts. Most of my good shirts are either a mock turtleneck or regular turtleneck. The days I work I usually just wear that all day instead of changing.
Around home and running errands usually jeans and tuck in shirt of some kind. I was wearing large baggy stuff until I lost weight, now I'm tucking stuff in again and actually wearing belts. I've also gotten myself some good comfy shoes so I don't have to wear tennis shoes all the time. I was getting tired of that look day in and day out. No more leggings etc, I'm trying to be current with my styles without looking like I'm trying to look 20 again. Fitted and sleek, that's the look I like.
My 14 year old daughter is wearing stuff I wore in 1974-77 when I was in high school. Flared pants, plaid pants and skirts, huge clunky shoes etc.

In the summer I wear capri pants or shorts and cotton t-shirts or cotton camp shirts. I've found that I have a tendency to grow into pants with stretchy waists so I seldom wear them. As long as I wear something with a fixed waist and a belt, I'll notice any weight gain. I don't like to change clothes during the day so what I put on in the morning is usually what I'll wear throughout the day.
I wear a lot of loud costume jewelry when I dress up so I keep the dress plain. My dresses are long, short, different styles - vintage if I find something interesting. If I can find vintage heels that are comfortable, I'll wear them with a simple contemporary dress. I'm not about to wear a total 70s or 50s outfit unless I'm going to a "Decades Party" - I'll look too much like an old lady who never updated her wardrobe.

I saw the JC Penny footwear commerical and couldn't believe my eyes!....Oh, those plaid skirts and the clunky, funky shoes!....I think I have a few of those skirts left at Mom's & I had about 10 pairs of the shoes & boots which were headed out to my garage sale, as soon as I saw the commericial, I whipped those puppies right back into my eBay stock...WoHoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....
These days I dress (as I see most of you all do) for comfort & for MY style. I like sweats when I'm home & working...When I do venture out, it's jeans & a sweat shirt or sweater & my sneakers. Topped with a leather jacket....For formal affairs, I have a few dressy pant suits that fit the bill & allow my to keep my vow (made after my departure from Corporate America) NEVER to wear panty hose again!

My favorite "uniform" is a pair of comfy worn in jeans and a sweater. Soft soft and a pair of sneakers and I'm ready to go!
Next favorite is with a solid color button down shirt and a nice belt.
Needless to say, as a Floridian, I don't get to wear my "uniform" as much as I like to.
Unfortunately, I still shop like I'm in NY or Chicago.
You don't want to know how many pairs of jeans I own.

Everyday: Jeans, black tshirt or sweater, sandals or sneakers. Or on hot days, a long dress.
Dress-up: something black. Usually flats, but occasionally my "Sunday go to meetin'" cowgirl boots.
90% of my wardrobe is black. You need a flashlight to see what's what in my closet. It's not a goth thing, it's an exNew Yorker thing. Also - everything matches, so no hassles.

Recently, at my daughter's band concert, I saw a girl wearing--I swear--the exact platforms I wore to my junior prom (1975)!!
As for me now, jeans and comfy shirts and tennies are the uniform. Out here in the sticks, it is the only sensible way to dress. (But truth told, it is all I would wear no matter where I lived.)

Hm, interesting question.
On weekends or other relaxing times, it's usually a t-shirt with jeans, usually blue, and almost always boot leg (LOVE the boot leg cut! haven't gone back to Classic since)-- hey now, you'd be surprised at how many different shades and styles of blue jeans I can find...
If I have a date or an evening out, I try to spice it up a little. That's when I bring out the dark blue jeans-- hehe-- and add either a stylish red or black stretchy shirt, some platform (or chunky-heeled) shoes.
(Actually, I do have some short and long skirts and even some non-blue non-jeans, they just don't see the light of day as much as the rest.)

I just thought of something that might be considered weird that I do: I will NOT wear a belt with my skirts and tops unless I have shoes that match the same color as the belt. All "dress" shoes I have are Clarks, Rieker, Dansko's or Romika sandals. For winter dress shoes, I wear knee high boots under my skirts (I dont wear alot of dresses..just skirt sets), but if I wear a belt with the outfit, it HAS to match the shoe color. Anyone else?
BTW..I dont own a pair of jeans. Hate 'em.

Belts and shoes must match for me too Hepburn. If the shoes are black, the belt must be black too, same with brown. I've been picking stuff like belts and purses up at the local Village Discount Store. I was thinking of going there again tomorrow with my Mom, from whom I got my love of thrift shops. Nothing beats leather belts for .90 cents, brand new purses for $2.00, and Dockers for $1.60.

I loved jeans...thats all I wore when I was running around and thumbing rides to Frisco in the 70's. But when I got older, I got to where I just didnt like them anymore. I think they look sharp with a blouse tucked in and a blazer, or even with sweaters and t-shirts. I just cant wear them anymore. Once, I used plyers and laid on the bed to get them on...then I went with the hip huggers...then the big ol bell bottoms, then straight leg. Loved them...but just cant wear them anymore because I got addicted to loose comfy stuff, or stuff that stretches when you bend or sit. Hence...leggings

Belt & shoe color MUST be a match...If I don't have a matching set, I make sure that my shirt covers my belt.
I got addicted to loose comfy stuff, or stuff that stretches when you bend or sit. Me too, BUT if I let myself live in sweats & stretchy stuff I would gain a TON 'o weight....I need to put the jeans on every couple of days to keep myself in line, so to speak.
BTW, does any know if the plaid skirt / clunky shoes fashion has a name? I would like to list the shoes I have, but certainly want to target the correct audience. TIA

Ditto Hep!...I typically use "retro" BUT I thought there might be a specific name for this style..something like, "hideous" or "so darn ugly it NEVER should have been brought back into style", but I don't figure that either of those would draw many customers!

Ugly. The style is called "ugly." I sometimes have a hard time keeping a straight face these days when I see teens (& some 20-something's) proudly strutting around wearing stuff that *we* cried tears of gratitude over when it went out of style 20+ years ago

Rancher, you would be surprised at how fast people will bid seeing funny descriptions like you just said. Go for it! In the title of my autions, I usually use the stupid phrases we used back then, too. Like, FAROUT, or GROOVIN', maybe B!TCHIN'? Whatever, do your thang and watch them bid. College students eat that stuff up. Been there done that, so if it floats their boat, then fine with me.
