I can't say that I'm upset.

These things are just so unimportant right now.

I realize that some of you folks might like the diversion, but I'm just not in that mindset.

My sad face up there meant that I'm sad that the situation taking place right now is causing such things to have to happen. That we're all living in fear. I'm not that upset about the Emmys themselves.

I see it more as being safe rather then sorry, I don't see it as fear at all...

Oh, I don't know... My husband and I have an appointment tomorrow with our estate planning attorney and his office is in a 30 story building on the 24th floor. I have to admit, although I worked there for 10 years, I'm a bit "afeared".

---- one of the reasons they have cancelled them is that the station that was going to broadcast will be devoting their airtime to the attack tonight.....on top of the fact that it would inappropriate.

They should still have some sort of award ceremony though---at some point.

That is another good point the Emmys is a big Commercial event and most of the networks have once again seemed to have stopped the Commercial advertizeing for this news...

Rudy Gulianni just said that the streets are NOT closed in NYC. They have more check points going on, but right now he's keeping the city open and moving.

I assumed the Emmys were canceled because they would have very little viewing priority this evening, that's the reason. Then I realized how accurate Bin Laden's words are as I recall some messages on this board.

And this is America filled with fear from the north, south, east and west, thank God. Osama Bin Laden

NO! NOT HERE! NOT MY FAMILY!!! WE REFUSE TO PLAY CHICKEN LITTLE! I'm going on with my life, so is my wife. She's gone to the mall to get some baby portraits today.

I've got more realistic concerns to control my life. I'm worried about her diabetes, her blood sugar has been so high the doctor wanted her to admit herself to the hospital on Friday.

Just as well. Who wants to go to the Emmys in "dressy business attire" anyway?

uaru: That blood sugar thing really stinks. I'm diabetic but I have it well under control with diet. But you have to be really careful with it. Let us know how she is doing.

I completely agree with you, uaru. I'm not going to let that motherless excuse for a man...or his minions...impact the way I live my life.

I hope your wife is doing better. That's scary.

I think the Emmy's should have just gone on. Bin Laden has cost us billions, affected our lives, and now controls our TV.

We should go on with the normal stuff that DEFINES America. Even at war.

Just my opinion.

"These things are just so unimportant right now."

When are these things ever important? What I don't understand though, is why people can't get back to enjoying life again [important or not]. I'm getting soooo tired of continuous news broadcasts. War or no war I'll tune in at 5 and 11 and see what's going on. The rest of the time I'll think about something else.

I don't see why they can't have the Emmys, but in a way it's refreshing to see them implicitly acknowledge that they really don't mean much in terms of signifigance.

Has anyone noticed that since football is on, they're only interrupting the game periodically for news updates? They know better than to pre-empt football.

One thing I've noticed from Sep 11 on. On these 24 hour news binges there is only a certain amount of real information and the rest is just rehashing what little information they have. Frankly it's boring..

I'm watching TV Land where they have Dick Van Dyke running 24 hours. I have watched enough of the "coverage". I can not stand to watch rehash over rehash over rehash. The constant rehash starts to get me panicked and makes me physicall ill.

I think they should have gone on with the Emmys. If they had to preempt for a news bulletin, so be it, but we are letting Bin Ladin dictate our lives.

I think they also should have been funny. We need to laugh to relieve tension and face this new reality.

Who wants to see celebrities in Business Suits? Generally the most interesting thing about the Emmys or Oscars are the outfits.
It has been almost a month since the attack,
somehow the Hollywood "mourning garb" rings false. Everyday citizens are not wearing arm bands or mourning clothes. That "right" belongs to the victims families and friends.

Everytime we alter our lives, other than safety precautions, we are letting the terrorists win. I think it is a better tribute to the victims, to hold our heads up and lead our new normal lives. That is one of the weapons needed to fight this battle of evil.

Bin Laden must be thrilled. He is controlling our TV stations from his cave.

Amen. Now we are doomed to see it on all channels for another 2 weeks and it wont be anything new. Just the same o same o, told from different people. Yes, I want to know what is going on, but if I stop my daily life, bin laden wins. If I stop laughing, bin laden wins. If tv stops all "fun" things, bin laden wins.

Frankly it's boring..

And for some of us, this is life and death of our loved ones.

Talked to the elder kitten a couple days ago. He won't be home for Christmas-he'll be overseas...

Still...we watched NASCAR and football today.
Raiders and the 49ers won!

mildreds: We don't have TV Land with our cable company, and I was SO BUMMED when I saw that there was a Dick Van Dyke marathon! Did they show the one where Buddy, Sally, Rob and Laura spent the night in the haunted cabin? That's my favorite one. Man am I bummed.

Muriel. I love Dick Van Dyke also !!!!. I didn't get to see all of them, but they probably did show it as I think they started with one and went on down the line.

They had a Christmas Show where Rob, Laura, Buddy,Sally and Richie were part of the Allan Brady Show. Richie sang Little Drummer Boy. This was the first time I ever saw this show.

I wish I had started taping when it started.

I love Columbo also.

The five-day Star Trek marathon was great. My only complaint was that it was bumped every night at 3 am EST so that TNN could air the Miss Cleo infomercials. But otherwise I really liked it.

Mildreds: I would have been glued to the t.v. all day. I used to watch the show on Nick at Nite, but then they transferred the good shows to T.V. Land and we have this STUPID ADELPHIA CABLE that won't carry it. They also won't carry the Cartoon Network. And not only that, but the Channel Guide is always wrong. I hate it!

Muriel: Too bad about your cable. I do not know why they all can't carry the same thing. I would have been glued to the set also but had to work on trying to clear 1 out of 2 storage lockers before the flea market shuts down.

I made $400 in 5 hours selling Ebay/Shop mistakes on Sunday. It was great to clear out some stuff but it was cold!! Temp in the 30's.
