For the last day or so I have found myself whistling, or humming to myself, a tune that I just can't seem to get out of my head.
It's driving me nuts, not to mention other people.
I don't know what it's called or where I even heard it.
I wish it would go away!
Does this ever happen to you?

Mornin' Mylanta - Yes, I'm doing that exact thing lately. The song that I'm slaughtering is Lee Greenwood's God Bless The USA. I've looked at Lyric World (and other lyric sites) and can't find the words), even though I can humm the tune. I'd love to be singing it correctly. Anyone have the lyrics?

....we've got to stand up...

...where at least I know I'm free..

God Bless The USA.

Linda_K - those words are proudly displayed on Lee Greenwoods website - www.leegreenwood.com - have always loved that song, even before all that has happened.

For myself, I heard one the other day - something about 'real life' - a boy loses his dog, falls in love, then loses his wife during labor. It made me cry real hard. Can't remember the song, nor the artist and it keeps going off in my head.

Also, "That's a Good way to get on my bad side" comes and goes.

My thoughts on this issue have gone 'Un-Surveyed' and may not be of importance to the P.T.B.

noteye - The song you're thinking of sounds like "Don't Take the Girl" by Tim McGraw.

Linda,

that's not how it goes. something like this:

Ain't 2 proud 2 beg for something that I call my own, I need to be loved, I need 2 be touched, I need it so much....

It's part rap:

If I need it in the morning or the middle of the night

I ain't too proud to beg no

I'll have to look up the words.

Sorry I didn't get the right one, tiggressoflove. The 'Ain't Too Proud To Beg' song I thought you meant was sung by the Temptations a long long long time ago. Good luck finding yours.

Hi Linda_K!

Just in case you would like to have the music and words on your desktop, here it is...

Enjoy!

Here is one a friend sent me, and now I can't get it out of my head - it's on the lighthearted side, and is actually quite funny...

Yes, happens to me all the time. Someone or something will remind me of a song--and then I can't get it out of my head & even find myself humming it.

It wouldn't be so bad if the songs were run-of-the-mill. But no--I often find myself humming things like "Angus McFergus McTavish Dundee" and "Pearly Shells" all day. It *can* be a bit maddening.

Many times when the previews for a movie is released the score isn't ready. What the studios will do is use the score for another movie instead. I'm pretty good at getting the name of the original movie the score belonged to but on occassion I'll go through the entire movie wondering in the back of my mind what the score in the preview belonged to.

Commercials are the same way to an extent. I'll hear a classical piece and I'll rack my brain trying to identify the composer.

ARRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!

I believe if you check AW's Community Guidelines you'll find that posts like that aren't allowed. If they don't list that song specifically then it was an oversight that I'm sure will be corrected soon.

ROFLMHO @ the second URL you posted, nanandme. That is GREAT!!!! LOL

Thanks also for the words from Lee's wonderful song. Gives me goose-bumps everytime I hear it. I really appreciate you taking the time to post it for me. Well...for all of us. I went to the site noteye shared and ordered Greenwood's American Patriot CD. They even take PayPal. lol I know what I'll be listening to all the time. (Probably be blasting it and singing right along. Our neighbors are acres and acres away...so it won't be bothering anyone.)

Bunnicula - Your post about the type of songs you try to sing (different)....made me think of something that happened many years ago. To set it up I have to share my husband and I grew up with the early Elvis recordings, Motown, Paragons, Jesters, etc and love and listened to music all the time. BUT while in childbirth, with our first born son, and at the end of approx. 18 hours of pain, I was on my side rocking and kept singing Old MacDonald Had A Farm.....where in the world that came from I'll never know. LOL My husband asked if I could sing it a little more quietly. haha Guess I wasn't too concerned that he was feeling embarassed at that particular time.

Linda, I am glad you like it. I downloaded it (God Bless the USA) and keep it on my desktop.

I just love the second song - the guy who helps me with computer problems always sends me the funniest stuff! I got that this morning and was drinking my coffee when it started playing - almost choked!!!

I posted two other threads of more comic relief - I figured we are way overdue for some laughter!

Laughter....yes, we do need more of that. Post those shared URLs more often please, so we all can laugh.

Mine is that stupid ass commercial for some kind of handy wipes you stick on your visor, you know, the kids and mom singing something about Jacob someone in the station wagon, they hit a bump and the kids face falls into his ice cream? God what an annoying song, it has been stuck in my head for two weeks now.

rhondalee65 - nope, that's not it, but thanks - made me start looking for it.

The song I am talking about - I just found out - is REAL LIFE by Jeff Carson. Very emotional song.

Here's a qoute from his website - "Real Life," is a very touching song about life, death, and moving on.
As the opening words hook the listener, "I was young, he was old, we both were
the same age...." it makes one wonder the answer to the riddle, which reveals
itself as his pet dog. His best friend, and his first loss. The song moves on through
life and high school, the prom, jobs, and then to the lady who changes his life
from that moment on. And then a new life they share with their new child. Life
moves on.

If ya'll get the chance to hear it - stop and listen for a moment.

Very touching.

Another one that sticks in my mind - is that ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM commerical. Can't remember what it is that's a zoomin' but all week-end long I was singin zoom zoom zoom - hey yeah.

Ohhhhhh Fez!!!! AAK!

I find that when I wake up in the middle of the night, or in the morning, I will have a song going through my head.

Lately I've had three songs that won't get out of my head: That Enya song "Only Time", the Sarah McLachlin song "Angel", and that new Alicia Keys song that I adore called "Falling". I love all three songs, but after awhile they're starting to get on my last nerve.
