I'm just wondering if anyone is sticking around to post on the message boards after the verification and unmoderation?
I might, unless the majority leave.

I don't know. I see no reason to give them a credit card...I'd rather use a voided blank check...as the OAUA used for verification.

No, as much as it pains me to decide that. While I'm not against using my CC online for buying stuff, I don't see where it is necessary here. It's like stores asking for my social security number. The answer is no.
It is my belief that AW intends to close the boards, and this is the first step. Rather than just close them up front, they have chosen to put into place new rules which will drive users away in droves. Then, when only a few remain, they can close them due to "too little use", and in that way avoid being the bad guy.

Yes - I registered with AW also back in the winter to use Auction Manager (right before they started charging)...
For those of you that aren't - here's hoping we can catch happy hour every now and then and catch up...

No. I don't plan to buy anything here so I don't plan to give them my credit card.
I wonder how they will manage couples with one credit card but who are not allowed to share one id? (But I have several, which they aren't getting, so I really don't care.)
There are people who don't even HAVE a credit card because they DON'T WANT TO. EVEN ebay makes concessions for that.
Big mistake unless you just don't like the regular crowd AW.

I'll stick around.
Using a CC as an ID check isn't that bad an idea to me. I'll know that on AW when a company is being praised or condemned it won't be the actions of one person using 12 different screen names.

I'm also wondering if two people share one credit card (husband and wife) will only one user name be allowed? Mods can you field this question please..

I wasn't really uptight about this until someone posted something about AW sharing information w/eBay.
Just because you're paranoid doesn't meant they're not out to get you.

Sadie...
Omigod...that "sharing with eBay" thing never crossed my mind. I like being able to b!tch anonymously here. Sure don't want my posting ID and my eBay ID linked.

Lean toward yes for me. It isn't going to cost you anything. Maybe the board will be a little more relaxed on cybersex and I can tell you how I can lick my own eyebrows.

If AuctionWatch is sold, all our info, including our CC info, will go to the new owner, right?

Hi again toke,
Heard back from legal about your above question.

Moreover, anyone who wishes to remove their information from our databases, with or without an acquisition, can follow the procedure outlined in our privacy policy:

I hope this helps!

Diana: I would like an honest answer here...
(not that you "wouldn't answer honestly)
Do YOU personally have ANY knowledge, or have you heard ANY talk, that AW IS or MAY be aquired in the future by eBay, or ANY other company?
If so, they would still be operating WITHIN the privacy statement by not sharing info, but merging it into their own for comparison, no?

pocono,
Of course I can't answer your question, but I will point out as noted above that we do provide our users with an opt-out should they want their information removed from our database for any reason.
Thanks,
Diana
