Hi all!
I had read a thread quite a while ago, about Pomegranites and how to eat them. (I have searched for that thread and I can't find it!) Ever since, I've been looking for them at the store. Well today I FINALLY found them! Must be they are finally out since the cooler weather is here now.
So, I bought two of them.
Now - can someone tell me how to eat these things? (I can never remember what parts you eat and what parts you don't eat!)
Thanks!!

Make sure you have about an hour available to eat it---I haven't had one since I was a kid.....when I had time to waste

Pick out the seeds and eat those.

Carefully break it open and eat the seeds. If you have left overs, put them in guacamole and/or salads. Yummy! But messy..and they STAIN, so be careful.
Every Xmas, a friend gives me pomegranite jelly...its so good!

I have a tree in my backyard and we just cut the limbs and throw them in the trash, it is such a messy tree. Last year my MIL made jelly out of them. We didn't get any this year because we cut the tree back too far. Maybe we will never get any, ever again.
Not my name on ebay.

I always think of my grandmother when I see pomegranites. Every visit to grandma's seemed to always net me a pomegranite to eat.
Break the pomegranite open, dig out some seeds with your finger or tongue and then crush the seeds against the roof of your mouth with your tongue and let the juice go down the throat. To really savor the experience you need to be 6 or 8 years old and have a straw so you can shoot the seeds after you've gotten all the juice off of them.

I always eat the seeds--they lend a slightly nutty flavor.

Me too, there doesn't seem to be any pattern the the membrane separating the seeds from the next section, but I try to pull out a hunk with seeds in tact and nibble them off the pulpy stuff. Boy is that good or what?
Is it Grenadine syrup that is made from pomegranates?

Thanks everyone for the info!! Can't wait to eat them, they sound so good! Actually, I *think* I have tried them when I was real young, but I can't remember anything about them now. This will be a new (and hopefully not very messy) experience for me!!

I take about a half hour and stand at the sink and actually cut it in half first, and then start digging out the seeds carefully. I put them in a bowl and then eat them after I'm all done. They're really messy, and it's an acquired taste.
Like these...

Well, I just ate one of the pomegranites and it was delicious!! My fingertips look like I've been eating red pistachios, and my counter has little red splatter dots all over it (good thing for Oxi-Clean!). But it was well worth it! I think I'll save the other one for Thursday night's Survivor
Thanks everyone!
