I've tried searching the net and am getting so bogged down from it that I just decided to take a shortcut and ask for your opinions. We recently purchased a new solid maroon colored carpet. It is "flat" (not like an industrial carpet, but doesn't have the nap sticking up.) Anyway, we have two cats and two dogs in the house and my good old Eureka won't suck up the hair from this flat carpet. It does fine on other carpet with a nap, but not this one. I'd like to purchase a new one--preferably for under $200 and probably from WalMart. Went and looked the other day and I have no idea what kind would work best. Any suggestions from your experiences?

Hi joycel, I have the same problem and bought a Panasonic upright and it does a beautiful job on pet hair. The model # is MC-5128, but I'm sure there is a newer version out. I got mine on sale for about $175.00 but that's Canadian dollars. Hope that helps.

Get a Riccar, expensive but very worth it. The only thing I have used that would get Persian cat hair off the carpet. Now, if I could find a way to get rid of the cat I would be happy. He is dumber than dog sh*t.

I have a Panasonic upright from Goodwill, and it sucks up anything. It adjusts to carpet height, and even works on the wood floors. You have the right to an informed opinion -Harlan Ellison
