I dropped in to catch up on the "latest" and find nobody has posted anything for hours!!!!
Is there something going on I don't know about? A boycott, alien abductions, major ISP crashes, computer crashes, last minute Christmas shopping or has everyone just run out of anything to say?????

I'm recovering from Free Listing Day yesterday . I hadn't prepared in advance and listed from early morning until midnight under my two IDs.
It will probably be my last of my listings for some months (although I'm really tempted to do some listings in early January as it's the best time of year for my kind of product). I'm putting my house up on the market in late January and as soon as I find a buyer I'm hopping on a plane to go house hunting myself.
So I may find myself offline and then perhaps "homeless" for several weeks. I do wonder if the RT will still be around when I'm settled in my new place.

Wow Irene so many changes coming up. I hope all goes well with the sale of your house. You must be excited looking forward to your move.
I figured lots of people would be recuperating today from Free Listing Day yesterday. I've been doing some browsing of all the new listings tonight on Ebay looking for a few deals for myself. I sold a few things yesterday that I listed with the free listing offer, quite pleased so far but I think it will be slow until Christmas.
Sulyn did you list a lot of items on FLD too? I've been reading your comments about Yahoo today in the Yahoo forum BTW. It's very interesting the ups and downs of all the Yahoo changes lately.

The Yahoo fee changes came too late I think. I was doing extremely well on Yahoo a year ago. Even when sellers left last January, the buyers stayed for some months (habit I suppose) and I did fairly well in the spring.
Then I stopped selling for several months and only starting listing again in late November. Nothing. I took advantage of free listing there in early December and it turned out to be a total waste of my time. I may not even bother to use of what remains of my free credits (about $300).
Unfortunately all roads eventually seem to lead back to eBay.
I sold some stuff on the new Yahoo Warehouse but they have a lot of bugs to work out in their system. I haven't gotten paid for anything yet through their payment system, a minor yet necessary detail. They say they're "working on it" and I might get the money shortly after the New Year. I'm not rushing to add more things there but I'm not deleting my inventory either. I'll see what happens in the long run.

I'm here. All recouperated from yesterday. Went shopping with my sister today and they already have Christmas things at 75% off so of course I had to buy a couple of things.
Have to finish my decorating tonight and then this week-end is cookie making time.... and package wrapping time! ARGH! I am so far behind this year!

I just caught a little bit of a show on the History Channel that I thought was really kinda "different", refreshing actually:
They have been doing shows on the history of the bible and whether or not it can be "proved". It's been pretty interesting so far.
Tonight, they were talking about Genesis and the "creation story"....
They stated that this book has been used down through the ages (shouldn't that be up )to point out why women are not equal to man. She was created from man.
Well, there was a Hebrew bible scholar from some university who had a different view on the creation story....I found it quite refreshing:
God created the vegetation 1st, then stepped up to mammals, then on up to man and then lastly, but not leastly, he crowned his creation with woman....that Eve could be seen as the fountainhead of God's creation.
I rather liked that view!
Of course, I think it would have had more impact if the scholar had been a male...
I have to admit, I did catch myself saying out loud--You go girl!!!!!
Is this the place we can kick back, relax, and have fun! Share a story, tell a joke, write a poem, make a friend...???
edited for spelling--I tried to ignore it, but it kept me awake last night so I had to come and change it today.....

I was Christmas shopping today. Ick! I hate shopping. I'm getting worse and worse about leaving the house.
Rawbunzel, cookies for me to bake tomorrow too. We celebrate on Christmas Eve, so, Sun I will start cooking for our dinner on Mon. Wow, then Christmas will be over. I just finished decorating, and in a week I have to take everything down. Just goes so fast doesn't it?

Hi Choco! What kind of cookies are you making? I haven't decided between swedish spritz and my great grandmothers sugar cookies. Also going to make raspberry jam thumbprints and maybe some Norwegian Fattigman.
I might even make some divinity if I feel like it.
Now watch, I'll get one batch of cookies done and quit! Peace on Earth ~ Goodwill twords men

Sulyn, I completly spaced out there and forgot to say how much I appreciate that version of a woman's place in the biblical view. I have always thought that the bible is by men, of men,for men but with that view maybe not. Peace on Earth ~ Goodwill twords men

I'm going to make Polish cookies. I used to bake all different kinds but oven isn't keeping a constant heat and the cookies never come out right. The Polish cookies are deep fried so I just have to worry about keeping the oil at the right temp. Then I'll make Brandy Balls and Mint candy. I hope it rains because I love baking when it's raining. So nice and cozy, and smells so good too!
Humm, yes if the Bible was written by women it would be a whole different story.

Hello to Spaz too! Nice to know somebody is missing us.
So Spaz, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and all that jazz... when are you coming back to visit us? I remember you left the door open for a visit .... (I heard all manifestos have expired by now too, it would be nice if a few more people visited for the holidays)
Wrapping the final batch of presents, a few to be shipped and one more round of shopping at the mall late tonight looking for discounts... contemplating some Christmas baking, Rawbunzel and chococake are getting me in the mood for baking.

Well, bunz sure hope you got more accomplished than I did today. I just finished making brandy balls and fudge. Which means I will have double the work tomorrow. That's what I get for being lazy!
The grocery store was packed. Many more people buying food than there were in the stores buying presents when I went Christmas shopping yesterday. I also noticed that when I went to Costco the other day, the checkout lines were really long, but shoppers had more food in their carts. Usually this time of year they're buying big items to give as presents, and liquor. What a difference a year makes.

Hey, Spaz, I'm here too. Recovering from helping daughter with new baby (yikes - tired!) and a bad cold. And we just moved to another state (CA) - all good excuses for not listing anything for a month and for not coming to AW as often. We don't know anybody in our new town and have no neighbors at all to see that I'm a rotten Christmas decorator so we're not doing anything but a wreath on the door (so passersby don't faint at the site of a bare door) and going to our daughter's for Christmas.
Sulyn: I saw the same special, at least the GOOD part, and loved it. And I too was saying You go, girl! And, yes, a woman scholar saying that will be automatically discounted by a whole bunch of male scholars. Nevertheless, it must be true! We are the crown of creation! Love it.

HaHaHa Chococake! I did way worse than you! I didn't accomplish anything in the way of baking. Now I am deciding if I should even bother...might just go buy some darn cookies and save myself the trouble. I know I won't but I am tempted!
plsmith, It is still pun here, Just not nearly as much pun as it used to be. We just do the best we can with what we have to work with.
raodsmith, Yes, which is it, boy or girl?
This place is filling up with "smiths". Peace on Earth ~ Goodwill twords men

Okay, since you asked. . . .

The new baby (daughter is 37 and it's her first, after trying for several years) is a little boy genius (obvious to all) named Richard, healthy in every respect. He sprayed me a good one the first time I changed him and seemed to take great delight in it from the smug look on his face. I'd forgotten all that stuff.

We have moved to beautiful Idyllwild, California, a lovely little resort town of 4,000 loaded with arts activities in the San Jacinto mountains of Southern California, just above Palm Springs. Elevation 6,000. We've had some snow, but in between storms we have days of brilliant sunshine. Just gorgeous. Moved from Utah, where we were for 21 years and glad to get out just in time for the Olympics mess. we are on the edge of town, no close neighbors, just birds and coyotes and chipmunks, with a full stunning view of Lily Rock. John Muir called this area the "Yosemite of the South."

Can you tell we're happy to be here? Husband's family has had a cabin in these mountains for 76 years, 10 miles from town, and our hearts are here, so we were very happy to find a house we could afford. Now we're 20 minutes from the cabin instead of 12 hours.

Y'all come see us! The town was really hopping with visitors today, all looking mighty happy to be here, as are the "locals."

Congratulations on you brand new grandson!!!
Wow! I got a baby-boy genius too (Christian Alexander)!!!! My 1st! He arrived 12/7/01 a tad small but healthy...I expect him to be talking pretty soon, I can't wait!
Just think, two boy geniuses born in the same month whose grandmothers both post at AW! I think it's pretty obvious where they get that genius from...

Sulyn: I'm sure it is NO COINCIDENCE that two ebayers have two genius baby boy grandchildren. None at all! You have to be very smart to figure out how to sell, don't you?? Have fun with your little guy; I know I will with mine, too.
The older I get the more I realize what a precious little bundle a new baby is, and how grateful we should be that it's born intact and healthy. I told our daughter that when they finally handed that little bundle to you, it would be like the best Christmas present she ever got, multiplied by a thousand. Isn't it great how Mother Nature hands us this baby and tells us "You will love this baby until the day you die. And you would do ANYTHING to protect it--anything!"

I'm done I'm done! cookies, candy, and Polish food. I'm tired I'm tired.
How'd you do bunz? Sometimes I wish we celebrated on Christmas day then I'd have another day to prepare. But, I'd still be doing stuff at the last minute I guess.
Sulyn congratulations! Another new granny. I wish we had a new baby around here except I know I'd have it as much as I have my grandson, and I don't think I could handle it with two.
