Today Donald Rumsfeld annonced, when asked by a reporter, that he and the adminsitration had no idea what they were doing building new U.S. millitary bases from Uzbekistan, through Tajekistan, through Afganistan (in a near stright line north-south), and through Pakistan. The mention that neighbors, like China, Russia, and Iran expressed fears that it was related to OIL and GAS was announced, claiming that they claimed that Bush was going to try to control OIL and GAS pipelines in that region.
BY THE SHEEREST COINCIDENCE ...
... the millitary bases line right up along the OIL and GAS pipline mentioned in the book by the ex-FBI agent who oversaw the investigation into AlQueda/Osama (and was blocked last year by Bush himself).
Asked how long these bases were to stay, the only speculation from the Bush Administration was "years".
