I think the idea is stupid. What purpose does it serve to let the general public and the terrorists know what state of alert we are on ?

If the Feds had let NYC know about a nuclear threat after the WTC attack, what would have happened ? Millions of people fleeing from NYC ?

All the American people need to know is that we are at war and subject to attack.
