Remember the promise of Cable Television?
Remember how we were promised commercial-free programming? All we had to do was to let them lay cable everywhere and then pay a low subscription fee of less than $10 a month for service. And at first, the cable channels were commercial-free. Then, when the majority of the market switched to Cable viewing versus over the air, they began to put commericals in. Now you not only paid for the programming, but you also paid for the commericals! So, by using a Skip feature, you aren't "stealing" as that CEO contends, but rather, you are getting what you paid for.

It is a small step from there to saying you have an obligation to actually BUY the things offered so that the programing continues. If the commercial does not influence you the whole cycle falls apart.
Do you have an obligation to a billboard beside the road? Everything in the economy is interrelated. Taxes from the activity built the road.
